ol550 830 #1 Posted January 23, 2012 I commented on BadDad's RMC post about the id tag on my 800 Special and got no bites.. Why does my 800 Special have this tag? I've asked this before without a picture without comment. It is under the dash like it is supposed to be but it says Briggs and Stratton Model 8B. Have I the only one like this, or are there more to be found. The engine is long gone. When I got it the head was off and the piston had become one with the block. The electric clutch was there but was junk. Anybody have a 800 with the B&S that has this id tag? I'll await the outcome of this oddity. Mike

TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #3 Posted January 23, 2012 It's there because someone cut a piece off of an ID tag from a much older B&S engine and riveted it where the Wheel Horse ID tag should be. (probably the same person who put the tank tray sticker under the tag) If I was to guess, I'd say the tractor was stolen. Just kidding! (but it seriously could have been )
