OK its not a WH but my summer/weekender neighbor dropped off his Cub Cadet because he knows I work on WHs. Said his cub wouldn't start...

Gee wonder why???

Anyone else have ideas on how to keep critters out of equipment stored for long periods???

I got a free $600 push mower that looked like that after I took it apart. Put some moth balls in an old sock and stuff it under the hood, or just use mouse traps and check them often. I've been there myself.

Ah is-int the inside of a vertical shaft blower housing a great place to make a nice bed. just needs a little padding. Been there before!

EVERY engine on equipment that I put out back was moved into by mice except one. It was an 8 horse Kohler that was recently installed into my 654 that sat out there for 2 years. Not one single trace of a mouse anywhere but there was a small snake skin inside the housing. I was thinking of going to the local pet shop to get one and try it out this winter. I bet even a small piece of one will work. Maybe stick some skin to a piece of tape and stick it on an engine.

I know the camping crowd puts out scented dryer sheets to deter mice from getting in their campers. I suppose someone could jam a few dryer sheets on any openings on the motor.

I've heard that unscented sheets do not work. The good news is that your motor will smell misty mountain breeze fresh in the spring .

my last horse had a seized engine,one of the reasons i got her for 50 bucks,it was packed like yours with nut shells and the flywheel couldnt move,i blew up my c101 due to mice,no air flow and she over heated,she was ready for a rebuild but still not impressed

I've got a Clinton which came off a RJ which a mouse ate the ignition wire from the spark plug to darn near the coil. Not to mention the nest in the blower cover.

Bounce dryer sheets (scented) do work, but you have to change them every couple weeks.

I told my wife about using dryer sheets. She put them in her little garden shed and the mice just used them for bedding. Then she was pissed at me, not the mice.

i had one like that before. moth balls were the only thing that kept critters away.

my miller 200 le welder with an 18 hp onan got mouse nests in the wiring and about an hour & a half of welding on my porch i looked over at the welder and it was just starting to blaze got the air hose blew the flames out. then i took the covers off, replaced about 12 burnt wires and put it back in use. that was 8 years ago & i havent put the sheet metal back on the welder yet!
