I dug up a few parts and I'm almost ready to begin:

Just kidding! :ychain:

Technically, this is more of a HUGE change to one of my current tractors.

I have 90% of it planned out in my head, so I went looking for some of the pieces I might be needing:

No rush though...... I had carpal tunnel surgery (right hand only) on 12/20 and have a few more weeks of mending, but I'm laid-off until mid-February.

I hope to have the first mock-up done before I return to work. :handgestures-thumbup:

Is it an 8 speed 1045 tricycle with a front end loader?

I really think you should make this a quiz....

If I tell you that it will have round fenders and a long hood, will you fail the quiz?

No front end loader for this one. (that's a project for another tractor - possibly next year)

I seen the long hood and round hood dash tower, figured it was a long frame 1045, knowing you like the old long hoods.

Hey Terry, what is the discomfort level of that operation you just had? I have needed both hands done for the past ten yrs. It is becoming just about unbearable now. I hope all is going well.

The worst part for me was not being able to get it wet until the stitches came out. Try washing your left arm with your left hand :scratchead:

The only actual discomfort I had was the first few mornings after getting the splint off. Once I got things loosened up again, it was fine the rest of the day.

It was done two weeks ago today and the only things I have a little trouble doing now is twisting bottle caps and turning the ignition key in vehicles. I was favoring that hand prior to the surgery, so it's nothing new to do those things left-handed.

Doing this tractor reconfiguration should be a good test - and a warm-up for when I return to work. :thumbs2:

I can't tell what you are gonna build, but I'm sure whatever you do, MacGyver will be proud :handgestures-thumbupright:

I can tell you that I am sure it will be a top-notch build and I am looking forward to seeing it.

How about if I get Karl to transfer 250 from my post count to the winner's post count? :laughing-jumpingpurple:

Nah - not this one...... top speed should be close to stock.

I thought all of these tractors could do mean wheelies. :scratchead:

Changed my mind.....

Gonna start from scratch (and dent and rust :hilarious: )

Donor tractor was a 1970 Raider 10, but the only original (to this Raider) parts I'm using is the frame and the lower steering support & shaft - everything else is from other tractors.

Time to disassemble!

Propped together for an idea of how bad (as in terrible) it'll look:

Long way to go, but at least I got started. :woohoo:

I like the direction your headed. I'm surprised we haven't seen a computer drawing of this concept :eusa-whistle: . You are quite the "computer artist" !

I'm really liking the look of that long hood and round fenders. Sleek, sporty and retro all in one tractor. Can't wait to see more. :)

Thanks, guys!

I'm just getting back into normal mouse & keyboard operation, so you might get a drawing out of me yet. :confusion-shrug:

I was going to slaughter the trike, but decided against it at the last minute. If all goes as planned, this will be my sickle mower tractor.

Planning on a measly little S/G K-181 for motor-vation, which will be plenty to run the 42" cutter bar. Low range will be a welcome addition and a drive belt saver. :handgestures-thumbup:

I like the direction it is going, are you going for like a 1045 look or are you just going with whatever you think of?

My two most-favorite styled farm tractors are the H Farmall and the WC Allis-Chalmers. In the beginning, I was actually thinking about pulling my narrow-front Charger back down to the frame/front wheel assembly and then building it back up using a 3 speed, a 7 or 8 horse Kohler K with a starter/generator, and the "body" of a 604/654/704 with a stretched hood. That would have been closer to the farm tractor look, but there are already a few narrow-front round hoods of that style/vintage.

Without the narrow-front, this tractor will definitely resemble a 1045, just longer and a with smaller engine. It might not end up being very pretty, but it will give my 704 a break from the sickle mower. I already have one worthless tractor here so there's really no point in building another. dragstor010.jpg :handgestures-thumbup:
