perry 82 #1 Posted December 26, 2006 whats the trick to keep theese hydro's from taking off to full speed. i have tighten and bent around the clips on the plastic slider, and nothing seems to work. i even bought a nice used plastic slider and clips and those do the same thing. the only thing i can think is the aluminum houseing that it slides on must be wore out. i can control the speed with the foot pedal, but the forward/reverse handle will just drop to full speed. you'all have any idea's ?..... Rollerman 290 #2 Posted December 26, 2006 Perry thats a nice looking 877! Okay here's the deal....put your tractor up on some jack stands so the rear tires are free of the ground. Next....that plastic plate you mentioned...there is a "cam" inside of it. You need to use an allen wrench to back off a set screw from the top... Now in that plastic plate there should be a little round metal peice....thats the cam & should have a a slot in the end for a flatblade screwdriver. Now fire the tractor up "wheels of the ground" & push the brake so everything is reset to the neutral/stop position. Take a small flat screwdriver & turn the cam I described untill the wheels stop moveing. Tighten the set screw back down at the top to secure everything again & that should be it. A couple tips....don't tighten the clips on the side of the plastic side plate to much..it will wear very rapidly...there should be a large nut on the rocker shaft just ahead of the slide plate that you can turn in to add some friction to the control lever...don't do it with the clips! Put a little grease under the slide plate too. Both the cam & slide plate get pretty worn out & both may need to be replaced for things to work right. If it's dropping into a fast speed right off the bat...you have a valve probably sticking....get some new filters & run it till pump is warm...shut it off & drain the tranny/change filter...may have to do it a few times & make sure tranny is warm. Do all that & see if it helps....if not I have some other ideas. Stephen in northern IN...hope this helps
perry 82 #3 Posted December 27, 2006 just what i needed to know. thank you for the info. would you happen to know the filter number. i would asume i will have to do a cross reference to find a new hydro filter?. this little 877 was the best $50 i spent. 4 yrs ago when i went to go pick the tractor up, it was sittin in the driveway idleing and awaiting to come into my life. also came with a snow plow & a mower deck. this thing is amazing. just lat week it yanked my simplicty out of the mud with no hesitation. the 877 gets worked hard on my 5 acres. some days i just feel sorry for the little bugger. but its has to be my favorite out of the fleet that i have. Rollerman 290 #4 Posted December 27, 2006 Perry looks like you may want to consider parking the Simple & getting a nice 4x4ATV? Looks like a nice mud hole there...if I were closer I'd bring the Arctic Cat over..LOL I have the number for the filter out in the garage & will double check tommorrow...but I think I get a Fram PF16? Let me check though before you get one, will post in the morning. Stephen in northern IN
