  1. If no significant other - get woman
  2. Place woman behind tractor
  3. Tell woman to push when extra power is desired

Make sure it is in top tune, new plug, points carb adj. properly, new air filter, a good running engine will give you the best power with out mods.

I gotta agree with Kelly above if the engine is stock. After that you are going to have to get in to cam and piston mods.

how about shaving the head a bit to raise the compression ratio? you would want to make sure if the valves cleared

I CUT THE HEAD ON MY 12 HORSE POWER KOHLER RAT ROD .065 AND IT GAVE ME MORE SPEED. THAT IS ABOUT ALL YOU CAN DO WITH OUT GOING IN SIDE AND DOING MAJOR WORK. RUSS.

Have a read of the Brian Miller Tractor Pulling Website. There is a lot of great info there. Don't know what will apply to your circumstance but he explains any and every engine mod really well.

All of that, and make sure the governor is adjusted coreectly...youd be amazed how many engines have the governors set a few hundred RPM slow...those are important revs!

There is actually quite a bit you can do to get "free" horse power, it is all in how much work you are willing to do and capable of doing. These engines respond very quickly to some simple performance work .
