I would like to see more photos because I have two, 551's that I will be restoring. Was your engine changed or is it still a 5.5 HP Lauson? I don't see the electric start on it.

Not hard to see why that thought crossed your mind, but mine was the same way - and it's pretty safe to say that it was never tampered with:

Nice 551. I restored one that my dad bought new. Your fenders look good. The electric start and the charging diodes are missing on yours. The engine is probably a replacement. The original 5.5 design had an oil pump instead of a slinger rod and they threw connecting rods faster than a shuttle launch. Great tractor.
