Kelly 1,029 #1 Posted December 9, 2011 First has come and gone a nice C-121 with cab, blower and deck, I got it not running the PO put a bunch of parts on it but gave up, I cleaned the screen on the fuel shut off, and set the carb, it ran great, put it back on CL and sold it a few days later, I wonder what everyone pays for the machines they pick up and most never say, so I thought I would add what I paid to the list of new tractors, this one Paid $100 for it, kept the deck and swapped out the new batt. sold it for $650 only had it about a week. Next a C-100 I saw on CL but he wanted more than I was going to pay, well it stayed on CL for about 3 weeks, he was asking $600, I shot him a email offer of $250, he countered with $350 and a phone no. I called and over the phone talked him down to $300 so me and Ryan(my youngest) went to pick it up the next weekend, I was very happy to find it had a near new 42"RD deck, and a few year old NEW Kohler 12hp in it, that run like new still, paint is good steering very tight, even the seat is pretty nice, came with iron wheel weights, chains, and a nice 42" plow, even has all the paper work from new, including the new deck and engine, he owned it for near 20 years. Then the best was lastnight, I called on a CL ad for a B-80 not running, asking $100 I offered $75 and would take it sight unseen, unless it was not what he told me on the phone, so off me and Ryan went again, well I wish I had a camera, he said his garage door was stuck, so he cut a hole in the door the shape of the tractor, it looked like a cartoon were the tractor drove through the door, as we drove up the driveway in the dark all you could see was light shining through the cut out in the door with the tractor setting just outside in front of it, I could not believe my eyes, oh well some people, then he told me it was pouring gas out the aircleaner and thought it was probably just the points I said nothing just paid him, then he never even offered to help push it on the trailer, no big deal, but most people at least offer to help, I'll see how it runs, then probably part it, it don't look bad but it's ruff, it came with a deck but it's junk. Sparky-(Admin) 21,347 #2 Posted December 9, 2011 Looks like some nice scores Kelly. Its starting to seem like the Connecticut area has been picked over as WH's don't come up for sale that often and "great deals" are even farther apart. Mike.........
Martin 2,132 #3 Posted December 9, 2011 Kelly, you seem to get a lot of great deals. I guess it helps when you live in an area that horses are a little more plentiful. Around here deals are few and far between on cl etc. searching and word of mouth really helps. What doesn't help me is I'm right in the middle of jd country.and the fact that every body selling thinks they have gold. I'm sure smokin joe up there in lanark snaps up some of the deals around here.....

fireman 1,021 #5 Posted December 9, 2011 Mike your right. I think CT has been picked pretty clean. Not nearly the amount I used to see 3 to 4 years ago. You do see the occasional deal come up but it's usually gone within the first 1 hour that it was listed!
Irv 115 #6 Posted December 9, 2011 Don't cha just love those deals! I've gotten quite a few myself but of late it seems they are catching on around here and want the big money.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,331 #7 Posted December 9, 2011 I agree about CT. horses coming up. I cannot remember the last one I found on CL? 2-3 years ago they were poping up on a weekly basis...
Ken B 3,164 #8 Posted December 9, 2011 Yep, CT. has been picked pretty clean. The only things that I do see on C/L are severely overpriced for what they have. I think some guys have C/L linked to their phone so when a deal does pop up its like Jeff said, gonzo. Kelly you did pick up some pretty good deals there, that C-100 does look real nice. I think the reason the guy with the B-80 didn't help you load it is pretty simple, he cut his garage door out for you! He probably though to himself that the last thing he was going to do was help load it. I wish you snagged a picture of that, poor guy must have been pretty hard up for cashola. chinoman279 10 #14 Posted December 12, 2011 I'm new to this site, also from Michigan. Those are some nice finds. I picked up a 310-8 on Sunday from a guy in Jackson. Paid $975 with a SD deck, snow blower, plow, wheel weights, chains. Got it from the original owner with all books and receipts. He had about $4800 into the whole setup. I just finished putting the snow blower on my 312-8 that I've had since '91. Everything I bought from the guy is in like new condition. I happen to see it 5 minutes after he posted on CL. I do need a new headlight for it. Any help on that would be great.

71_Bronco 1,072 #16 Posted December 14, 2011 I check the CT Craigs list every now and again. Came across an RJ-58 with 2 plows, a deck, and a running (but not correct) motor for $550. Even saw a mint belt guard in one of the pics. I called him up to see if he wanted to sell the belt guard, and was told he wanted to keep it as a whole. Just checked CL and it's still there....
