SousaKerry 501 #2 Posted December 4, 2011 oh and it's only a 22 HP upgrade
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #3 Posted December 4, 2011 oh and it's only a 22 HP upgrade A Wisconsin VF4D is only rated @ 25hp - at 2400 RPM. I seriously doubt you'll need any weight on the front end with a ±300lb engine!
clyde 5 #4 Posted December 4, 2011 thats a vh4d isnt it?
CRE1992 135 #5 Posted December 4, 2011 Do it... Simply awesome. I saw a cub that someone stuffed a 4 cylinder Wisconsin into and changed the fenders out and put truck tires on the rear with a snowplow. It was a beast. Can wait to see it.
SousaKerry 501 #6 Posted December 4, 2011 funny thing about the HP rating one source says 25 another says 30 so I'm going with the nice round number of 30. and I believe the 300+ pounds even the heads and carb are cast iron

SousaKerry 501 #12 Posted December 11, 2011 Well I pulled off the heads today bores on the engine look factory fresh, pretty good for an engine manufactured in 1952 and sat in stored for the last 20 years, And I only broke off 3 head bolts, hard to believe the bolts were of the shelf grade 5, 5/16-18 should be easy enough to drill out. Had to completely disassemble and sand blast the carburetor, rebuild kit is on order..... I may actually try to start it by the new year. That is if Santa is nice and brings me a gasket set. Ben thinking about where to add the 6" to the frame, if I add it to the front it would give it an over hung look like a bigger tractor but I worry about putting that much weight over the front wheels. Whatcha guys think?
smoreau 658 #13 Posted December 11, 2011 Well I would add in front of the axle if you plan on using factory attachments, But if you don't plan on that I think it would look better if you added it to the center of the frame. Just my thought.
CRAZY4WHEELHORSES 0 #14 Posted December 13, 2011 YEAAAH BUDDY! Cant wait to see that in motion! :bow-blue:
6wheeler 603 #15 Posted December 13, 2011 That will be neat to see when its done. Last spring I put 100 pounds of front end weights on the C- 120 for plowing the garden. All I got done was, back it out of the garage. When the front end dropped off the floor on to the apron (app. 3/4"drop) , the left front spindle snapped. I repaired the spindle and dropped the amount of weight to 50lbs, and it held. Just food for thought. Pat
