buckrancher 2,679 #52 Posted February 16, 2012 finally got back at it and built a holding fixture for welding the gear on the new drive shaft the fixture positions the drive shaft at the right length thru the gear and keeps both perpendiclar the vari-drive shift lever had been broken and rewelded so I cut it off and made a new one the rear drive pulley must have had the center hub broke out because someone cobbed a pile of braze around it so I cut it off and cleaned everything up and clamped it together for rewelding Brian :icecream:

SNYFIX 13 #61 Posted March 10, 2012 It's ironic that the 854 was used at Cayuga Lake to mow the owners cottage lawn and to 'rake' off the "beach" when they lowered the lake down for the winter with a set of rear cultivators. The owner passed shortly before (or after) the flood so I'm sure he's looking down on Buckrancher with pride as I know that was the kind of guy he was. Now it's back in the Finger Lakes area !! The RJ was a local "one of our first" sales.
buckrancher 2,679 #62 Posted April 6, 2012 the lift lever had been broke and cobbed back together so i cut the upper tube off and built a new bottom its all clamped up to be welded next piece was the gas tank you can see the remains of braze on the tank from where a square piece of sheet metal had been brazed on to hold a fill cap spout. I removed it all and cleaned it up the best I could and soldered a new cap spout back on Brian
