AMC RULES 37,133 #5 Posted December 4, 2011 Found this interesting little tidbit today, while looking through the original "starting and operating instructions" evelope I got yesterday from this tractors original owner. I would think that the original selling price shown here represented a mojor commitment in 1963. When I shared this thought with Bob, he smiled, agreed it was, and said "but it was a good investment though, I worked that little tractor for forty eight years, and look...it's still going strong." I'd have to agree with him. It's a shame though, with all our modern advancements in technology, things aren't built to survive that long nowadays. :disgust:
AMC RULES 37,133 #6 Posted December 5, 2011 Started giving it a little love today. Couple detail shots... gorgeous original dash assembly... all the original decals still in tact. This is gonna be one sweet little Suburban once it all spruced up.

privateer 1 #9 Posted December 5, 2011 Nice find. Was that a local sale in my neck of the woods?
71_Bronco 1,072 #10 Posted December 5, 2011 Looks great! Nice find That pic you posted (of the rear view mirror) looks very familiar. Last time I saw something like that was when I picked up my RJ from Matt (grnlark). So whats the plans for this one?
AMC RULES 37,133 #11 Posted December 5, 2011 Detail it until you could eat off of it, and enjoy it for it's originality. I got a deck with it that will need some sheet metal repair, but other than that, the tractor needs nothing besides maybe a new seat pan. If anyone can share a source for a new pan, that would be great.
buckrancher 2,679 #12 Posted December 5, 2011 Craig is this the one that was on e-bay north of albany,NY it was a good looking tractor the p.o. listed it last year but want too much I see the starting bid was what it stopped at last year I was glad to see he had a make offer on it this time good to see someone on here got her Brian
AMC RULES 37,133 #13 Posted December 5, 2011 Yep, it was Brian, and that make an offer button helped me out emensly too. I was able to better the BIN by $70 all said and done. Probably not the best deal out there, but I was pretty happy considering how well the tractor was maintained, and it's originality.
keg 0 #14 Posted December 5, 2011 i am also in need of a seat pan for my 502 if any body finds any good sources
wheelhorse656 20 #15 Posted December 5, 2011 The first picture after the video would look 10X better if the chevy decal was taken off and a ford one put in its place. :-)

AMC RULES 37,133 #17 Posted December 5, 2011 The first picture after the video would look 10X better if the chevy decal was taken off and a ford one put in its place. That little truck always serves me faithfully, why would I ever want to degrade it like that?
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #18 Posted December 6, 2011 Nice 653! Fantastic to have the original paperwork.
AMC RULES 37,133 #19 Posted December 6, 2011 The best part for me was the time I spent with the original owner. Eight two years old, and remembers the day he bought this tractor like it was yesterday. Great experience it was, listening to all his stories of his history owning this little tractor for the past forty eight years. There he was laughing like a kid, when telling me why the seat had been repaired. He said his sister liked to go out and mow the lawn when she came up to visit. He said that back in the day, she was a little on the heavy side, and really did a number on the seat. LOL. Nothing like an early morning road trip to pick up a new old tractor, and making a new old friend in the process. If you're out there, thanks so much for the memory Bob. You can rest assured I'll take good care of your baby. Here it is on the other side. That red, already starting to glow. Guess I better replace that seat before it starts the next forty eight years of it's life, with my wife out there mowing our lawn. :laughing-lettersrofl:
Martin 2,132 #20 Posted December 6, 2011 Craig, i think you did good. even if you think it wasnt the best deal out there, what price do you put on your experience of going and picking up this tractor? while others maybe just go for the best deal out there, i think that getting it from the original owner with the time that you got to spend learning its history( and the fact that you got all its history ) from the original owner will be a conversation starter for many years to come.... how many of us experience that on a regular basis when picking up another horse? and you got to show us some of it on here.......thankyou! massey 118 #22 Posted December 6, 2011 That is a nice clean tractor. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
AMC RULES 37,133 #23 Posted December 6, 2011 :thanks: Massey. Today I noticed there is a decal missing from the engine tins. Wondering if anyone else has a six horse Tecumseh, and can either tell me, or can share an image of what decal is supposed to be here? Thanks in advance.
