IthacaJeff 151 #1 Posted December 2, 2011 I just picked up a Deutz-Allis 1920, a 20 HP (Kohler Magnum) beast with a 60" shaft drive deck. The DA is a rebadged Simplicity Sunstar with dual turning breaks, Hi/low range, diff lock -- and it all works! The only downside is no hitch (available sleeve or 3 pt). But, I got it to mow, and for $380 I got a deal. Okay, so it is pretty banged up, but she seems to work fine. Pics will come as I take them and figure out the new RedSquare. Any of you have any advice on a hitch, let me know. The downside is that one of the WHs is gonna need to go. . . . Jeff in Enfield NY
CRE1992 135 #2 Posted December 2, 2011 For that price it was worth it. I think the damn hoods on those things are ugly! But they are very functional. Goodluck with it. -Charles
baerpath 517 #3 Posted December 3, 2011 Jeff I have basically the same tractor only mine has the Lambradini diesel in it. Mows great. Does yours have the electric clutch or the manual one for the deck ? Watch that gear box if you have the manual mine was tightened so much when I got it it had started pushing the bearing out. There are hitches for them brinly and Simplicity Duane
IthacaJeff 151 #4 Posted December 3, 2011 Duane: It sounds like you have the AC 920 with the Lombardini diesel. I believe that tractor is more related to the Sovereign style tractors if I'm not mistaken. Been a while since I've been into the Simplicity tractors since I sold my old little Yeoman. I could very well be wrong. Mine has an electric PTO switch for the mower deck. Gotta say that I like the manual PTO engagement of my WHs. I also like the extreme simplicity of the WHs. . . if something goes wrong with the DA 1920 I'm sure it will cost some bucks. But, I've been looking for a 60" deck mower, and this could not be beat. baerpath 517 #6 Posted December 4, 2011 Had a 920 like a fool sold it, but hey more than doubled my money. Found a Simplicity 7790 to replace it with so alls good. The diesel in it out works the 520 easily and burns a 1/4 of the the fuel. Duane
