New re-production hubs for the RJ-35

Recommended Posts

fireman

I have decided to keep my RJ-35. The only real parts problem I had was the old hubs. The inside drive sections had grooves like the majority do where the toggle pieces rode. SteveBo told me that one of our members had re-produced some. I contacted him and low and behold he still had a set. He even gave me the option of one that was turned down for the optional brake setup. These things are identical to the originals. Now i can't wait to start working on it again!

I was always just thinning out the herd :confusion-seeingstars: . My biggest dilemma was not having enough room to actually work on the tractors with the amount that was in the shop. I always refused to let any of them spend even a single night outside so it was really a double edged sword. Now that I have plenty of room in the shop to begin working again and a good balance of tractors I really want to keep, I'm doing my little happy dance :happy-partydance: .

Ken,

Do you mean "Big Red" or "Big Orange"? I don't think either will be for sale anytime soon but you never know :text-lol:

I don't know John. Bill Jenkins is the one who has them. He didn't say how many sets he had left. He did give me the option of the turned down one for the brake so he just may.

Just an update for anyone looking for these hubs. I was just told that he has sold his last set. I have no idea if he is going to have any more made.

Yes that too ... I think he just need to get this one back together and use it before taking on the task of a complete restore. The nice thing with these litle ones is you can do a little at a time since they are so easy to take apart and put back again ! I know he will get it done.

I believe he was getting $110 each at the show but per Jeff's reply looks like he no longer has any in stock...

Duke,

Steve is correct. They were about $110 each but apparently doesn't have anymore. He said they cost from the foundry has gone up dramatically. Maybe if a bunch of people get together and pre-pay him he will have more made. Just food for thought!

Well Jeff, I'm glad you "thinned the herd" because the 702 is happy in my garage :) And I'm glad to see you decided not to sell the 35!

I'll tell you what, you'll be first in line if I ever decide to sell it. In the meantime, whenever I see you at another show, I'll let you take it for a rip. :woohoo:
