Zeek 2,286 #1 Posted December 2, 2011 I originally planned this to be a spot on original restoration. A couple things have changed: Nothing will ever compare to the job Anglo Traction did on the same tractor Same goes for Bob Maynard's job(s) A local tractor pulling event has diverted my attention Anyway, onward-nonward Tear it down Think we will try a little higher resolution on the next pics . . . Zeek 2,286 #3 Posted December 2, 2011 HEY! No fair starting a restoration with a tractor that nice. It's a 30 footer, someone rattle-canned it a few years back . . . wires and all.
Zeek 2,286 #4 Posted December 13, 2011 Latest progress Looks it needs some gaskets Broke this trying to get the steering wheel off Looks like this needs welded - this side is cracked - the other side broke completely off (steering tower base)
SAM58 30 #5 Posted December 15, 2011 What year model is your Raider, I had a 1972 I sold to my brother and it still has the original engine. an original restore is what that one needs, please don't tell me you are making a puller out of it.... Not many Raider 12's left to restore.I have been looking for another 1972 Raider 12 to restore. Looks like your are getting off to a great start. My old iPhone made the paint look orange... It is actually RED. I UPLOADED THE PARTS & SERVICE MANUALS FOR THE RAIDERS....
Zeek 2,286 #6 Posted December 26, 2011 Some more disaasembly . . . definitely in need of gaskets and seals
Anglo Traction 761 #7 Posted December 27, 2011 Zeek, I agree with Craig, starting with a pretty good sound Tractor is one big bonus !. Engine also look's like it is/was a good runner. It's your call on what you do with it. Most of all , enjoy it. Look forward to the progress updates .
Zeek 2,286 #8 Posted January 13, 2012 Little more progress . . . been busy with a laundry room remodel . . . Hubs . . . I'm quite sure these hubs have not been off since 1972. There is not way penetrating oil left on for year would have made a difference in my opinion. It took a torch heating to almost red hot, a BIG puller from HF a few taps with the hammer and a breaker bar to turn the puller . . .

Anglo Traction 761 #13 Posted January 24, 2012 Nice Dash job. Question ....on the refurb Pic, a Hole has appeared in the Dash...top left above the 'Lights' Switch aperture. What's it for?.
Cole 25 #14 Posted January 24, 2012 i think that hole is supposed to be there, its probally for the rivets that hold the choke cable.
TT-(Moderator) 1,145 #15 Posted January 24, 2012 Nope - that's an extra hole. The face of the raised outer edge was once painted "white" too.
Kelly 1,030 #16 Posted January 24, 2012 The hole is not in the before pic??
Rooster 191 #17 Posted January 24, 2012 Ummm...is that the same dash...several other holes "grew" in size as well?
TT-(Moderator) 1,145 #18 Posted January 24, 2012 It still has the metal backing plate behind it in the "before" picture.
Zeek 2,286 #19 Posted July 3, 2012 The show has rejuvenated me . . . plus I got some other pressing projects finished. I was going to bring this to the show, but I knew buckrancher and maynard would show me up Anyway, pressure washed the frame and assorted bits tonight Put all new seals in the trans and polished the axles My time was sucked by this project. Had to paint the bottom and the outdrive, add the canvass and redo the trailer bunks while the boat was off. All before it was time to hit the water. I'll put that project in another area. daveoman1966 3,762 #24 Posted May 5, 2014 2 comments / questions: #1 No mention was made of the condition of the frame plate where it connects to the gearbox. Very often this is cracked and, if it was, how did you make the repair? #2: If that is the same dash plate (doesn't look like it), how did you get the raised white lettering done so neatly?
