reecie 3 #1 Posted December 1, 2011 Hey Gurus, I was going through some real old stuff in my yard and came across this reel mower. It says Dille and McGuire MFG Co., Richmond, IND. The patents that were pending have to be from "1800 something." I know it's been sitting in my yard since way before 1990. I snapped a couple pics of the mower itself and of the stamping from both the outside and inside of one of the wheels. (Excuse the new bolt. It was getting dark and I needed something to hold it steady.) Any info is appreciated. BTW--I snapped a pick of my snow blower mounted as mentioned in another thread. Thanks, Maurice
reecie 3 #2 Posted December 1, 2011 I came across this interesting clip of the history of Dille McGuire, but would still like to know if anyone on this forum has personal experience and knowledge about their equipment. http://www.pal-item.com/VideoNetwork/610967700001/History-of-the-Dille-McGuire-Lawnmower-Company They appear to be one of, (if not the) inventors of lawn mowers. I wonder what old "Elwood" would think of how far WH has taken the concept :)

pfrederi 17,632 #7 Posted December 2, 2011 When i was a Kid around 1955 my father bought one of the earlier self-propelled Rotary Lawn Mowers. It was a Dille&McGuire King 21 inch. Mowed nearly 2 acres for many years.

Perhaps a non-WH horse :ychain:
