71_Bronco 1,072 #1 Posted December 1, 2011 The steering wheel on my RJ-58 is in need of a little work. It isn't broken or anything, but the rubber around the outside is dried & cracked. Is there any way to fix the rubber part? Or would it be easier to just look for a new one? I've been on the look-out for one that is in better shape, but have had no luck yet. I noticed on eBay, there is one off a 701 that looks just like mine, and looks to be in great shape. Will this one fit? If so, what other models shared the same steering wheel as the RJ-58. I was also looking into the small cast ones (the reproduction ones), but cannot find them anywhere. I know that it isnt technically correct for the RJ-58, but I always thought they were pretty cool looking. Thanks
AMC RULES 37,141 #2 Posted December 1, 2011 IIRC, member charliesD250 was reproducing the small cast replacements. Maybe shoot him a PM?

MikesRJ 552 #4 Posted December 2, 2011 Both BuckRancher and I have used similar methods to repair steering wheels. PC-7 works quite well too if you're willing to do the elbow work.
71_Bronco 1,072 #5 Posted December 2, 2011 :bow-blue: WOW Mike, that came out amazing! What's your secret? Did you just slather it on and then sand / file away what you didn't need / want? Mine isn't nearly that bad, so as long as it is a simple process (i don't mind time consuming), I would probably give it a shot

MikesRJ 552 #7 Posted December 3, 2011 I never did write the article on Steering Wheel Restoration. Perhaps I will do it here in the coming days and then copy the best parts to the actual article on the MWH site. In the mean time take a look at some of BickRanchers pictures at this link: http://www.mywheelhorse.com/modules.php?name=Docs2&do=show_doc&id=
