Hello everyone from Dallas, GA (about 20 miles outside of Atlanta). A couple weeks ago I was searching around craigslist looking for a good deal on a tiller...and boy did I find one. I found a guy just 10 miles from me that was selling a Wheel Horse 1100 Special with a tiller and a mowing deck all for $225. I emailed the guy probably 2 hours after he posted the ad, but didn't hear from him that night, so I figured I was too late. The next morning I got an email that said he has a lot of interest and it is first come first serve. So I told him that if he'd deliver it, I'd buy it site unseen. 2 hours later I had a 1100 special with a 07-36TL01 tiller, and what i think is a 38" deck, although it doesn't have any tags on it that I can find. If anyone has any just general info about the 1100 special, I'd love to hear about it. I assume it is like the GT-1100, which, if I understand correctly, was built more for the big box stores. I think it is a C series Wheel Horse, and was built with the 11 HP Briggs to save money. When the guy brought it over, he fired it up, but had to keep it at 1/2 choke to keep it running for a second. So the first thing I did was rebuild the carb, it appears that the initial condition of why it was only staying cranked at half choke was because the fuel line was airlocked, because when i took the fuel line off from the pump to the carb, just a little dripped out and the bowl in the carb was completely dry. After I put everything back together, I could only get it to start after I disconnected the fuel line, and once it started running and gas pumping, I hooked the line back up to the carb and it ran beautifully. I don't know much about the briggs engine, but I've downloaded the operators manual for some light reading. The wiring on the tractor is an absolute mess, so I will be posting some questions in the electrical section soon. Also, the tiller did not come with the idler pulley, but I found a post on here of how to build one, so I'm sure I'll have some questions about that soon enough too. This is my 4th garden tractor. I have 2 Cub Cadet 123's (one is actually my 4 year old daughter's), a Case 222, and now this wheel horse. It is my first GT with a Briggs engine, instead of a Kohler K Series.

Here is a shot of the Tractor:

Here is the tiller, which to me is the holy grail of garden tractors:

And finally, the deck, which I think I'll sell to finance the small repairs and the parts fro the tiller idler pulley:

So what are the plans for this tractor???? Full resto or just getting it running and making it a worker?

I plan on making this one a worker for for now. So I want to get it in good running condition (change all the fluids and doing a tune up). I need to fix the wiring mess, which will be my first post after I get some pictures of what is going on.

This one might become a restored worker in the future. From what i can tell, the 1100 Special isn't exactly a popular model (or particularly "special") of the Wheel Horses, so just refreshing the paint and maybe doing some mods, like adding lights will be in it's future.

welcome to red square, sounds like you are familularizind your self well of these red tractors, you are right, the 1100 wasnt particularily a desireable model compared to a kohler but lots of guys have stated that they didnt mind the briggs when running good, and the rest of the machine is basically the same as a c series around 1978-80,so a motor transplant could be a consideration in future
