Olympic sized weight plate mount

Recommended Posts

I bought this adjustable ball mount to make a weight bracket for some Olympic size weight plates I have. It is $39.99 at Lowes.

I used 1/2 inch threaded rod and a steel fence post for the materials. I then used 1/2 inch washers that were a nice tight fit inside the steel fence post material to keep it centered around the 1/2 inch steel rod.

It took about an hour to cut the pieces and find the right assembly etc...

In hindsight I made it too long and will take 4-5 inches off the length of the bar.

And for the other piece that came with the adjustable ball mount kit I can use a large suitcase weight on that. I will likely modify it so I can put 4 - 6 suitcase weights on it though.

What do you guys think? Should work well with the 2" receiver mount I have on the way from Scott.

I had a bit of an idea for my 310-8. I’m thinking about making a weight bracket that kinda slides onto the factory wheel horse bagger mounts. Anyone ever do anything like this before? How much weight do you think the bagger mounts could hold? I probably wouldn’t put anything past 50lbs on it.

Kinda like the modern craftsman weights they mount to the rears of the tractor. I’d figure it’ll help counter balance the blower in winter
