squonk 42,006 #26 Posted December 3, 2011 Don't forget your cables! A big battery may last long and give some needed weight ,but it's nothing more than a boat anchor without good cables. :banana-wrench:
Stigian 1,234 #27 Posted December 9, 2011 But how do you open the hood Opening the hood is easy.. or will be.. Just flip the lid on the battery box, disconnect the quick release battery leads (ok they only turned up in the post yesterday and have not been fitted yet), then quickly unwind a couple of "finger friendly" bolts and the whole box will lift off.. easy eh I'm curious about the quick release battery leads and the finger-friendly bolts -- more photos when you get a chance? A few photo's for you Ed The finger friendly bolts.. Ok maybe they are not as "finger friendly" as I would like but the can still be unwound (just) by hand.. Sorry about the bad pic, it's the bolt head with a bit of rod welded onto it.. The quick release battery clamps look like this.. Just pull the plastic cover up, and they pull off the battery.. Great things these clamps, I might have to buy some more of them

tunahead72 2,504 #29 Posted December 12, 2011 Ian, thanks for the photos -- two very nice touches indeed. I can see the battery ends coming in very handy, even on my two machines that get used a lot (I remove both batteries for the winter, keep them charged and put them back on in the spring). :text-thankyoublue:
