The past 4 weeks before the Wheel Horse Show things did not go too well for me. and the amount of work just piled up. The computer broke down and had to be sent out for repairs ..... not too good when you recive e-mails everyday on the show. :whistle: Getting my '500' SPECIAL painted seemed simple enough BUT at 11:30 at night before leaving for the show I was still not finished putting the tractor together. I finished loading tractors on the trailer at 2:00am and at this point after working late every night for a month I could barly move. I had promised Jerry we would leave Richmond at 5:00am .... yup I was up at at 4:00 with only 2 hours of sleep and with way too much caffine in still my system. :WRS: Finding all the raffle prizes in my house was another fun adventure and with out the computer I could not post about the two artist concept drawings that were going to be a big draw for the show (these drawings are worth about $800 to $1,200 a piece). Getting to the South Mountain Fairgrounds at 9:30 thursday I figured it would be lucky to get 400 tractors to attend with gas at $4.00 a gallon ...... BUT this where the luck changed. The Wheel Horses just kept coming in from states like Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Maine and folks coming from Seattle, Florida, Missouri and England! :dunno:There was no way to get an official count of the number of Wheel Horses that attened the show but if there was not 800 there it was real cose to that number!!! AND it was GREAT to met all the fine members of the RED SQUARE GROUP!!!!! :D:D

Sincerely

Wild Bill

PS I will post some pictures soon.

Hi Bill, It was a pleasure and an honor to be there. In the short time that I've had this addiction, I have met several great people while on my road trips. It was great to see them again at the show, and to meet in person all of the guys I have met online.

If you couldn't tell, I had an absolute blast there, and the time quickly flew by.

That brings me to an idea we were kicking around at RS base camp. Based on what I saw Thursday (a pretty good sized crowd, TT counted 200 tractors that night), and with what you mentioned about fuel costs, consider this: How about stretching the show out another day (or 2? ). There is so much to see, and so many friendships there, that it's hard to get everything done. Another point is for those that live far away, the fuel cost will be the same whether they stay 2 days or four.

Personally, if I lived 10 or 12 hours away, it would be hard to justify driving in for a 2 day show. The small amount extra for a hotel or camp site would be minor in comparison, and would make the drive an easier decision.

I understand that there would be addition money spent for rental of the grounds, etc. The fact that there is no admission charge still blows my mind, and I wouldn't have any problem if there were a small charge to offset the additional expense. Once again, after making the trip there, what's a few more bucks?

I can now say that I am a proud member of the WHCC, and want to do my part to ensure that this remains the greatest tractor show anywhere!

Thanks again for giving me a memory that I will always treasure, and hopefully add many more.

Eldon.

Thanks Bill for a great and memorable weekend and it was a pleasure to meet you in person. Like Eldon said the only thing it went too fast. Extending it a day or two would be great. Again thanks for a great time and see you next year. Ray

Bill, it's incredible to realize what this show has become in ten years. Without YOU, it wouldn't have near the success. Wheel Horse enthusiasts the world over owe YOU the THANKS for your tireless devotion and relentless passion for these little tractors. Yes, all the members of the WHCC deserve credit for the work they do, but Bill, you make this show fun and give it the "personality" that keep folks coming back. In the 10+ years that I've know you, you've never ceased to amaze me with how much time you commit to this hobby and to spreading its awareness to others. You're a truly fantastic spokesperson for the Wheel Horse enthusiast community and we are most fortunate to have you as our "voice".

Here's to a fantastic job with 2008. :whistle::WRS::D

I'm sure you'll out do yourself again in 2009!

Kevin

Hard to imagine that a computer problem could cause you to have a lack of words :whistle: Bill, I haven't been to a show yet, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the work that you and the club put into it. Not attending the show is a real dissapointment, which shows just how valued the WHCC show is.

In the future, should you have computer problems that close to an event, I can send you my phone number. Let me know what you want to say and I will be sure that RedSquare, MTF and Yahoo all get the message LOUD and CLEAR! It probably won't have the clever use of all the available smiley's but the message will get out!
