aeallison 1 #1 Posted November 17, 2011 Hey folks, A friend found an 84 Workhorse LT 1100 5-speed all neglected and broken. The engine is a complete loss (fist sized hole in the block) I have a 16HP Twin (opposed cylinders) and a 20HP Intek V-Twin either of which will go in it with some coaxing. This tractor has the vertical shaft engine. I bought it pretty much sight unseen for $50. I was hoping it was the one of the GT 1100s with the 8-speed, but alas it was not to be. Does anyone here have one of these who could post some semi-detailed pictures of one of these Model# A2-11BP01 I believe. I have not been able to find much information on these. :dunno:
TT-(Moderator) 1,145 #2 Posted November 17, 2011 Closest I can get (same basic tractor but different year): If you want to seek out more pictures, they are the predecessor to the 211-5 and share many parts with similar lawn tractors from the 70's up to about 1987. As for the fitting of an opposed twin - it's been done a lot - mostly by Wheel Horse. Example:
aeallison 1 #3 Posted November 17, 2011 Thank you, that is better than the penciled drawing in the OM. That 211-5 you linked to has the rear discharge mower deck. Will these mower decks interchange with other Wheelhorse models? I noticed that they have 4 deck configurations and other attachments like snow blowers and snow cabs, tillers and blades like the others do. I think the PO blew the motor long before he was able to destroy the tractor itself. I might restore this one as a mower and use my 312 for fun. :dunno:
Irv 115 #4 Posted November 17, 2011 I have an '85 216-5 which is again the same basic (lawn) tractor but had a b&s 16hp twin in it (now is an 18hp after a fire). Mine is a 37" sd deck and they are not interchangeable with the 3 and 400 series (different set up). I do have a snow/dirt plow but I've never mounted it. Should be easy enough to stick the twin in although I think you'll have to cut some out of the sides of the hood.
