GT14 Rear Wheel weights-Mounting?

Recommended Posts

ThreeHorses

How do the 2 piece rear wheel weights for the GT14 mount? Came with some long bolts. Do you use the same holes in the wheels and bolt thru the weights also? Mount on the inside or outside? Valve stems are on the outside and appear that there would be a conflict with them.

Thanks,

Rich

I am pretty sure those mount to the inside but I could be wrong. That is one reason they made them two piece is so that you can put them on and take them off without having to take the wheel off the hub. And yes use the bolts through the weight and push it through the holes already there on the rim.

Scott,

There aren't any extra holes in the GT14 rims to put bolts thru. Weights came with 9/16" x 4" fine thread bolts and the holes in the weights line up with the lug bolt holes if mounted on the outside of the rim. The lug bolts are also 9/16" fine thread. Looks like you have to remove the short lug bolts and put the weight in position and use longer bolts. The 4" bolts that came with the weights are about an inch short to mount on the wheels on my 71 GT14. I don't know what year they were mounted on before, may have had a different offset, or I'm wrong on how they may mount. Anyone with the 2 piece weights mounted on a GT14 that could post or send pictures?

Thanks,

Rich :dunno:

I'm pretty sure you take the wheel off bolt the weights to the back of the hub with the long bolts, through the hub, then use nuts to hold the wheels on the bolts that are like studs now.

Like Kelly and Brrly indicate teh two part WW-93 Wheel Weights go on from the backside on the 1963 - 953, the 1964 -1054, the 1965-1054-A, and the GT-14's.

The four bolts needed for each side of the tractor are 9/16 18 x 4 inches long.

This is a copy of the one page WW-93 Manual and Parts List:

I am mounting inside weights on Rylee’s 953 plow tractor “Rebel” and figured I’d bring this thread back from the dead.  Great information @Lane Ranger!
