71_Bronco 1,072 #1 Posted October 18, 2011 So Sunday was the first time I shaved with a straight razor. Man was it nerve racking. I spent a few weeks reading, watching videos, shopping etc, but nothing really can prepare you for it. It really wasn't all that bad to be honest. Took almost an hour to do it for the first time, which is normal, but I got through it with only 2 minor nicks. Key is to take your time and of course, have a steady hand. Razor I used was a Dovo Renaissance, 6/8" Stainless blade (not my pic). If anybody has any questions about this, feel free to ask. There is allot of information out there on the topic. One thing to note, is that it really is an "art". It isn't something you pick up and you are a pro at. I am by no means a pro yet to be perfectly honest, but I did have fun shaving, and it really is rewarding.

bitten 134 #3 Posted October 18, 2011 After spending close to $25 for 6 razer last Saturday I was thinking about this. Perfect timing. But have some questions that I hope you guys can answer. What are the advantages other than the money I could save? Do you get a good close shave? How long does it take after you know what you are doing? Thank You for your help.
