krazy_horse 59 #1 Posted October 16, 2011 I found an 856 run down Horse in Flordia a few months ago. One of the things I found that the shifter is loose and with little effort can be pulled out. Other WHs I have seen has a stud with lock nut to fix this but the 856 only has a nut and bolt that looks to hold the trans togother. Do you loosen this to install the shifter? ol550 830 #2 Posted October 16, 2011 Shifters on all the unidrive transmissions I have seen have the shifter held in with a dog point set screw. The nut just locks it from turning. There are 2 lengths of points, the longer seems to work best. Mik
Martin 2,133 #3 Posted October 16, 2011 im fairly sure you should have the same type of retention for the shifter as the other types of wh trans. i could be wrong, but ive never heard of a different setup for the unidrives. maybe youve got the wrong sort of fastener in the case, or its not long enough to be able to catch the hole in the shifter collar. edit; sorry, just seen ol550s reply......
