Axle Seals look different

Why do the skf 11050 1 1/8 axle seals look different than the ones that came out of the trans. Do they work?

If the ones that came out of the transmission were Toro brand, the outer portion is made of plastic. The SKF seals are stainless steel. Yes they work. I find them to be superior.
