VinsRJ 723 #1 Posted October 2, 2011 Well the only non-round hood wish tractor I have ever had was a 500 Special. My brother, being the man that he is, found this one for just the right price and passed it along to me. I drove just a touch over a hour for this 500 because it was..... FREE!!!!!! Thats right NADA! How can you pass that, right? Well.... it was sight unseen until pick up for my brother and I and...... its ruff. Parked nicely under a crab-apple tree for at least 10 to 15 years, maybe more, I'd say 80% of the sheet metal is rust pitted bad. The motor is non-original with a blower cover so rotted...... The steering, frame and tranny seem to be good but, I'm sure the tranny is filled with water. Its got the original "Wheel Horse" tires on it, fronts are shot but the backs are really nice. Original mower deck and non original wheel weights. The steering wheel is actually REALLY nice. Looking it over I have no idea what I want to do with it. Best case I'll locate new sheet metal, maybe trade the wheel weights? Or worst case pull the serial tag off and set it out front with a "Take me Free" on it.
