Teddy da Bear 11 #1 Posted June 18, 2008 Can anyone help me identify a wheel horse tractor from the model and serial number only? I tried the Toro site and it did not come up. There are sometime variables involved with that site. Thought asking you guys might be easier. Approximately late 60's/early 70's wheel horse Owner says model is : #19731 serial is: #428901 any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #2 Posted June 18, 2008 Could it be 1-7931 instead of 19731? If it's 1-7931 then it's a 1968 Charger 9. That's all I could come up with.
Teddy da Bear 11 #3 Posted June 19, 2008 Anything is possible with some folks. Some do not put any importance on model numbers for their selling purposes. I have asked him to re-check the numbers.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,231 #4 Posted June 19, 2008 T-Mo is probably right, but another possibility would be a 1973 (model year) 12 just left off the 2 at the end. The 1973 tractors are just numbers, 8, 12 16 etc...
linen beige 14 #5 Posted June 19, 2008 I tend to agree with Treed. The serial # on my '68 Charger 9 is 408188. Just over 20,000 ahead of this one. I'm not too familiar with the numbering protocol WH used then, but I would think that as big as they were in '68 20,000 units would not be too far apart time wise. If it has a ten horse HH-100 driving a hydro, I'd say it's a charger 9. :WRS:
