rmaynard 15,758 #4 Posted September 23, 2011 If it's original, the Wheel Horse cross-reference bulletin says that the RJ35, RJ58, and RJ59 had either a Kohler K90 or a Clinton B1290-1107.

VinsRJ 723 #6 Posted September 24, 2011 Either a 1200 or B1290 can be correct for a RJ58-9. With out the engine tag its hard to rell from the exterior.
bean 85 #7 Posted September 24, 2011 from a few earlier posts, I assume the 1290 has a tapered shaft and the 1200 has a straight 3/4" shaft. is that correct? this engine is 3/4" straight shaft.
TT-(Moderator) 1,145 #8 Posted September 24, 2011 1200 & 1290 are the engine series (model number) and have nothing to do with the size or shape of the PTO end of the crankshaft. (variances are identified by the numbers after the hyphen) The 1200 is 3.5hp and the 1290 is 4hp
bean 85 #9 Posted September 24, 2011 ok, thank you. I wasn;t sure this was a clinton. I think we have determined that it is either a clinton 1200 or 1290, probably the 1290. :thumbs2:
