Harley Chrome Heat Shield on 1958 RJ

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

I put my two heat shields together this weekend. We took the mower deck off the RJ and placed the belt guard/cover on it.

I bought a heat shield from Norm Stineman from Bourbon, Indiana and painted it up and bolted it all together with the clips. I also bought a Harley Davidson heat shield piece that was about the same lenght and shape as the original RJ heat shield for $20 and thought it would look good on the RJ.

I will post a few pictures and let you make your own judgement -but I dedcided to keep it on the tractor for a while!

Nope, don't like it. You should give that whole awful looking tractor to me so you don't have to look at it any more. :thumbs2: Looks great! :banghead:

Martin

lane,

that guard looks great. adds a little shine to the exhaust area. excellent idea. :banghead:

i kept an exhaust system for years that would have been ideal for this sort of thing. i think it was off a victory motorcycle and it had some nice heat shields running down the pipes. i think that in my last clean up for scrap metal it ended up going as well.

always seem to keep stuff forever thinking i will use it and never do. the moment i clean up and get rid of stuff, you can guarantee that i will find a use for it....... :thumbs2:

that rj is a really neat looking tractor too.

are you bringing it to scotts with the 1054's?

Looks freakin' SICK!!!

Not to steal the thunder BUT, I must ask, is there a Harley part number or what model bike it fits???? I think I have the perfect tractor for it!

Martin: We will load up the RJ to take to Scott's and one of our 1054's. Also taking the B-100 with our Wheel Horse generator and maybe a 1967 Lawn Ranger with a snowplow attachment for some variety.

Charlie: Not sure the number on the guard but it had clips installed inside that held the guard on the rear of the muffler. I am pretty sure it was from a Harley Softail Exhaust.

I only paid $20 for it and I hesitate saying that as afterwards Harley chrome parts are going to go up in price!

i recently bought this Rj here in the Uk which are are extremely rare on this side of the pond and they PO out on a few chrome bits including the chrome muffler guard .

Although not origina; to Wheel horse there is also a chrome & glass inline fuel filter which i think is real nice
