Stigian 1,234 #1 Posted September 16, 2011 Morning Guy's, just a quick question for you. Are the Eaton axle oil seals the same as a 8 speed trans (1 1/8" axles)? Looking at the seals that are on the Eaton they have a steel outer casing, are these the original seals and any tips on getting them out? Cheers Guy's. Don1977 604 #2 Posted September 16, 2011 I would think that for 1 1/8" axles they should be the same seal. Toro seal are now all vinyl and some people have had trouble with them not sealing. I used after market seal on my 8 speed a couple of years ago they had the metal case. You need something with a sharp hook to pull them out. I had to drive the hook through the metal case to pull mine out. There is a bearing chart with the seals at the top of this page on a sticky. There are some changes down in the tread on some of the bearings.
kpinnc 12,498 #3 Posted September 16, 2011 They are completely different Ian, The outside diameter is larger, and the seal has a metal ring to strengthen it. A regular rubber seal could pop out if the return side of the hydraulics pressurize the sump. Sorry that I don't have the part number handy for you.
