darren 49 #1 Posted August 21, 2011 On my C-series with 8-speed unidrive, I've just refitted the transmission (I bought the tractor in pieces...) and although I can refit the gearshift with no problem, the brake linkage (I think) means I can't slot the high/low range shifter underneath it and slide it over the top of the shaft in the transmission case because it's at a slight angle Am I really either going to have to drop the transmission, fit the shifter and then try and slide it all back into place or remove the brake linkage? I'm hoping there's a secret trick :banghead:
meadowfield 2,594 #2 Posted August 21, 2011 hmmm, that little rolled pin is a nuisance! I seem to remember I fit the high/low control before any of the other linkages, eveything else seemed to fit around it ok. I've had the brake rods out independantly as I didn't like how everything was binding and removing paint. mark
WH854 44 #3 Posted August 21, 2011 remove the brake linkage? I'm hoping there's a secret trick Your easyest way is to take the left cover off and remove the little bolt(#27) that holds the break system slide #26 out of #23 you can then raise #23 upon one end and slide your Hi-Lo arm under neath and get it to slide down on the shifter pin. I just redid one myself, that is the way I had to do it. Here is a picture of the system. Hope this will help you. Chas
darren 49 #4 Posted August 21, 2011 Thanks Mark, thanks Chas. I'd been wondering about that Chas, thanks a million. Got to be easier than separating the transmission. I'll give it a go :thumbs2:
