snookman1 1 #1 Posted August 14, 2011 bought this 4 speed transaxle on ebay a few months back and the guy said he would hold it until my parents could pick it up on their trip. my parents are back and what i have is an 8 speed tranny(3 forward/1 reverse w/ high and low). great for me, i only paid 37.00 dollars for the thing but.... the left axle pulls right out( guy probably broke the c clip trying to remove the hubs to sell on ebay), and i need some other parts to ( brake drum, drive pulley and both hubs. how do i tell what model 8 speed this is? when you turn axle both sides turn in the same direction, other than that i don't really see any nubers or anything to tell what exactly i have.... please help..... snookman1 1 #4 Posted August 14, 2011 thanks don. mike the thread helped. i am not going for strength, just trying to rebuild my b80 now with a 8speed. i'll hold onto the original 4spd but it will not shift into 2nd or 3rd gears. tractor was not properly stored by original owner, so water was found, well that's a project for another time. You might have to fab up a brake rod that has a bend in it so the brake works right. the drum spins the other direction and has a different mounting pad if I remember right. I put in a 8 speed in my brothers 69 raider, a newer deck lift, and a front tack-a-matic. It all looks like it was built that way from new. Just wanted to let you know what I went through when I put in a 8 speed in a older tractor.
