Brrly1 1,146 #1 Posted August 13, 2011 Well, you can say I am running late on this post. I have been kind of caught up in my own world sitting around with 2 broken knees. I am more less stuck, can't really do a whole lot but watch alot of tv or movies. Then we have reading the newspaper and playing on computer. Anyway that is not what this is about. The Big Ten is going to have a different look this year as Nebraska has now been added to the conference. I have to believe that this should really make us a True Powerhouse in the nation. The Big Ten has always been a Powerhouse in football but this should more less "solidify" our presence. Well they are no longer picking how the season will finish but they are looking at a few different teams to play in the 1st ever Championship game at Indy. They are presuming that Nebraska will be closely watched along with Mich. State, Wisc. It could be one of the first times that neither Michigan or Ohio State. would be there. I would say that would be a rarity. As always I am looking forward to a Good year for the Iowa Hawkeyes. I really believe they will have a good year and really looking forward to the last game in conference play as we play Nebraska. That from here on out will be Iowa's last game of the season. Hoping for a couple games after that- Championship game at Indy- National title game were ever that will be held. Thats all I have to say for now. Go Hawkeyes!!! P.S. Ouch that hurts
JimD 3,345 #2 Posted August 13, 2011 Well Brrly, you can pretty much count my team out this year. What with all the stupidity and not so well kept secrets, the Buckeyes are facing a rude awakening to say the least. What they get, they deserve. That being said they are still my team. Hopefully the bad eggs are all gone and we can get back to just playing football. I have a feeling it'll b e a long season. <_< Sent you a pm John.
C-Series14 15 #3 Posted August 13, 2011 First off, sorry to hear you are laid up, John! Now for the upcoming season...Like Jim, I too am still a Buckeyes fan, no matter what has happened. They screwed up, people have disappeared, and new folks have arrived so on with the season. Good luck to your Hawkeyes, they are always a tough team. Have not been checking out what everyone has as far as strengths or weaknesses so it will be interesting to watch the season unfold... Go Bucks!
illinilefttackle 399 #4 Posted August 13, 2011 :woohoo: Sorry to hear about your knees John-get better soon. As far as the "Big Ten"-I agree, it will be interesting to see if they get the season finished without any "Politics". A championship game at Indy would be cool. And concerning the Buckeyes- it is a rare college football program that doesn;t commit to some skulduggery along the way to victory. In 1967 it was called the "Slush fund" scandal at Illinois. One thing people tend to forget-these are boys coming out of high school that have cars, women, and cash wavied in their faces. I saw some that made bad judgement decisions, ruin their careers. Not to say it wasn't to a large extent their fault-but we need a different systen for compensating-or- not compensating athletes. One way or the other-not in between or behind closed doors. As for this season-you know where my loyalties lie- Go ILLINI !---Thanks -Al
stevasaurus 22,764 #5 Posted August 13, 2011 Here is my predictions...Brrly1 (I love you man) we are going to have some fun while you are going through this . Michigan guys...you may have got some of the players from OHIO ST... your coach is still suspect. Cornhuskers...welcome to the Big Ten...while you will make a come back, it will not be this year. Ohio St.... puts a tarnish on a pure sport. I will say it again this year...watch out for Wisconsin. Iowa...your chance was 2 years ago...get over it. Indiana...not there yet, but going to surprise some people. Purdue...same as Indiana. Maybe the same for Minnesota...may surprise some people. Michigan St....could be another Wisconsin...be careful when it's your turn. That leaves Northwestern and Illinois...I would not be surprised if either one of these teams does enough damage to break some hearts and comes out near or on top. Bring it on guys...remember my predictions and we will see how it goes...assuming no injuries of course. Like that is going to happen. I really hope no one gets hurt. I am ready to enjoy the season, and I am rooting for any Big Ten team that is playing any Pac Ten team and any Big Ten team that is playing Notre Dame...just cause. The World According To Stevasaurs. :P
HorseFixer 2,012 #6 Posted August 14, 2011 First off hope you get better John. Well its a crying shame about OSU and it is pure stupidity!! The players and coaches have their heads up the AZZ! Let-um work and toil year after year like we do when all they have to do is keep it real and they are millionaires in 10 years.. what a Bunch of Dumb Azzess... <_< Anyways same as MICHIGAN The stupid athletic director we had Bill Martin hired that dumbarse coach by the name of D*ck Rod and ruined Michigan Football and all its TRADITION in just 3 years. Worst defense in the country, 30 straight Bowl appearances ended!!! The worst win loss record in 50 years!!!! And tho that may be normal for some but it's not for the Winning-est team in all of college football. David Brandon NO ONE has had it worse than us Michigan fans this past 3 years but we are on the Mends. We have a new prov-en athletic director David Brandon that played under Bo Schembachler, is a multi million air and was CEO of Domino's Pizza and was hired and saved them from Bankruptcy and managed them back in the black. He ia a very smart business man and took a 3 million dollar pay cut per year to come back to his Alma Mater, when asked about the $$$ he said I'm already a multi million air I'm back here because I want to be, not for the money $$$. To me thats saying something!!! And of course the best thing he did was fire D*ck Rod. Brady Hoke-Is Proven How many head coaches in the Big 10 have a Big 10 Chamionship & National Championship Ring??? Brady was born in Ohio and while everyone in his family was Ohio State fans he was a Michigan Wolverine from day 1. His dream as a boy was to play and coach the Wolverines someday. Al-tho he didn't play for the Wolverines he played for Ball State and then later coached for several small schools and Finally was hired by Loyd Carr and was Defensive Line coach for the 1998 Michigan Wolverines and was instrumental that year in helping coach the Wolverines to a National Championship. He left two years later and was offered the Head Coaching position at Ball State his Alma Mater and in 3 years brought them from 3-9 win team in The Mac Conference to the Conference Champions! Oh and by the way that year they played Nebraska and damn near beat um! He then went to San Diego State and was on the way to doing the same thing and brought that team from a 3 win team to a 8 win team and last year gave TCU a damn good game and played them better than most. When Brady was hired by David Brandon he took the position and it was 3 weeks later when David asked him Brady aren't you going to ask me what salary you will be making $$$ Nope I know I will be making more than I was at SD State I am back here because I want to be! Brady Hoke is the REAL DEAL he has integrity he is honest, hard working and is known as a players Coach the guys love playing for him and the Alumni Love Him!!! Brady has hired some of the best assistants across the country and has recruited one heck of a class for 2012 that have already committed to the Wolverines. And don't forget the Last Ohio native that was head coach of the Wolverines Name Was Bo Schembachler.. They wont win the Big 10 this year, but they will beat OSU go to a Bowl game and Win. They will be the most improved team in the country.. By the way we have one of our best running backs that has 3 DUI's Brady Hoke benched him the entire season....(Brady don't play) Notre Dame has one that did the same thing and they are playing him. Atta boy! Coach Kelly Thats the Dukes Prediction. GO BLUE Cheers ~Duke :P
bitten 134 #7 Posted August 14, 2011 John Sorry to hear about your knees, that has got to suck. Hoping for a quick recovery for you. Now then on to football. I am a Buckeye. Although Im not happy with the way things have turned out for our team I do believe that we will still have a good team. We will probably not be going to the National championship game and might not even win the Big Ten but we will have a winning season. We have a new head coach that has been with the program and knows the players. Yes he will add his own twist but I dont think his program will be to hard for the players to pick up on. I must not be the only one that thinks this way as the USA Today coaches poll has us ranked 16th. Sorry Duke but I dont think this will be the year that your team beats us. I am looking forward to a good Big Ten season from all the teams but will have to end with a GO BUCKEYES

Brrly1 1,146 #9 Posted August 14, 2011 Iowa...your chance was 2 years ago...get over it. BAH HUMBUG Steve every year that the Hawkeyes play they will break alot of hearts. It doesn't matter what team they are playing they are going to have to play a very tough game. I am hoping this year they finish the game in the fourth quarter unlike last year they went in ahead on all five losses and lost by a point here and a point there. No matter who they play its going to be a physical, rough and tough game. As always, Go Hawkeyes!!! :D
Brrly1 1,146 #10 Posted August 14, 2011 As far as my knees go waiting to hear back from Doctors office on either Monday or Tuesday to set app. for following week for a soft cast. Says it will be at least 8 to 10 weeks before I can actually put weight on the knees. I am not looking forward to this at all. :ROTF:

Maybe we can stir up some life here. Duke, what patsy you guys have for your first game? Appalachian State? Possibly Univ. of Toledo? Actually UT has a tough one next week at Ohio State. Mike , how about the Buckeyes? Who is there patsy for this week? Tyson, I know you are just dyin' to say something about how you think the Huskers are going to just walk right thru the Big Ten. I just don't think that will happen. I hope to hear something out of Stevasaurus sometime this week. Beings he is retired he can do more travelin' than anyone I know. You guys by now can tell I am extremely bored. Four more weeks of this is what the doc said. Go Hawkeyes!!! Rockets Rule!!! ( thru that one in for Mike) :banghead:

boovuc 1,090 #18 Posted September 1, 2011 Steve, You didn't even mention Penn State. No we won't be there for a championship this year but to not even mention JoePa!!?? PS..........PSU does run as clean a program as there is. We've seen a few of his players in trouble on and off campus though the past 10 years. I agree about the Badgers. Go PSU! We Are....Penn State! BooVuc Mill Hall, PA (In the East End of Happy Valley).

I did not do it on purpose. I am sorry...I ran out of fingers and toes when going through it. That said...I agree with you on where they are at...but it sure would be nice to see them take a couple of teams down this year. Always like JoePa :banghead:
boovuc 1,090 #21 Posted September 1, 2011 Sorry Steve but I had to say it. Here in the sticks of central PA, PSU is the only thing we have to a winning tradition with the big exception this year of the Keystone Little League Team in the LL World Series. I have always respected JoePa through the years. I just hope he doesn't spend too long on the side-line like an aging fighter and make a fool of himself. He still has the fire! He just can't get out of the way from anyone or anything coming at him anymore! Good Luck to all the Big Ten, Eleven or Twelve this year! BooVuc Mill Hall, PA
C-Series14 15 #22 Posted September 2, 2011 I like seeing you guys have fun! John, it will be interesting for sure for the Bucks first game, I hope they come out hungry! I always believe it doesn't matter who ya play, you got to play them hard so good luck to all the big boys who play the so called light weights... I remember playing a softball tournament one time, we were the best team in SW Ohio and were hated by alot of teams in the area and we played a team down in a Cincy tourney who wore cut off shorts and tennis shoes and some even used wooden bats! We of course wore matching uniforms, cleats, bat bags, and used $300 softball bats. Well, they gave us a heck of a game and almost beat us because we took them lightly! Let's see who falls this weekend!!! :thumbs2:
stevasaurus 22,764 #23 Posted September 2, 2011 Holy Cow...did anyone watch the Wisconsin game? They are big, fast and very good. They did every thing they wanted to do. I know UNLV is not that good, but I would not consider them a so-called "light weight". I really think they are the Big Ten team to beat this year. Tonight, we get to see what Michigan St. looks like against Youngstown St. :thumbs2:

Don't know why I just feel it. Sort of like fall rain coming in. Also I think if they do have a good strong year Joepa will retire, JMHO. Other than that I do agree its going to be a good year for college ball, especially after the pro football debacle, (millionaires arguing over thousand of dollars) left a bad taste in my mouth! stevasaurus 22,764 #25 Posted September 2, 2011 Heath...it is way to early to ask what you are smoking. Everyone starts in the same place...0 - 0. I would like to think that is a possibility, and would certainly like to see that happen for JoePa. If Illinois can be of any help...just let me know. :banghead:
