1965 Wheel Horse 875

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am a big Allis-Chalmers fan but I have a soft spot for the old Wheel Horse tractors (I think we have 3). Anyway, I just got done restoring my 1937 Allis-Chalmers tractor and thought it was time to get my old Wheel Horse show ready.

:D I had always thought that my Wheel Horse was an 877 because it has the 8hp Kohler engine and the hydrostatic drive. Today I was playing with it and noticed a sticker that had been painted over by a previous owner. It is very hard to see but in the right light you can see that it says 875 and below that it says "Wheel-a-Matic." I do not know anything about this model other than it was made in 1965 only. Can anyone give me some more info on this model?? :ROTF:

This one is also different in that it does not have a mowing deck. It has a multi-position blade on the front of it like a bulldozer. Is this a rare option for this model??

:woohoo:

This is the only picture I have of it so far. It is in great shape and runs like a dream. The only thing it needs is the voltage regulator changed and a new key switch.

Next to the mower deck the snow/dozer blade is the most common attachment, and often sees service long after the mower deck has rotted away to nothing.

Look for the model tag under the dash it should give you the actual model of the tractor, kinda sounds like it may have picked up a belt guard from another tractor also the serial numbers on the engine shroud can give some clues if it is indeed the orriginal engine.

Some of the other guys here can tell you a few more tips on tracking down the exact year if the plates are missing.

oh and

:woohoo:

Okay, I finally found the model and serial tag that I had been missing forever. It was right where everyone had been telling me it was at but SOMEONE PAINTED OVER IT!! :woohoo:

I mean really, I always tape off the tags before I paint. :ROTF:

I finally got the paint off of it and this is what it said.

Model: T 875

Serial: 142327

:D Wheel Horse Products Inc. South Bend, Indiana :P

Now that I know this can you guys tell me anymore information about when it was produced or what number off the line it was??

:D

:woohoo: :ROTF::D A/C37 these are nice tractors I have the 4speed in that and it is nice. As for the regulator I would save your $$$$ for now and go to harbor fright and buy a $4.00 trickle charger. just leave it on check your water every 3to4 months. I have one that does not charge and that is what I do. A new one will cost some $$$$ and if it is a Delco It is BIG $$$$$$ A used one will be around $40.00 in good shape. this is my 1075 T/Care Gary B.... also :D1075isDone002.jpg
