vg2724 0 #1 Posted August 4, 2011 I have a question about the Sundstrand hydrostatic pump on a D160. I wish to remove the implement spool on the dash, as well as the cylinders. To do that I would have to close off the pressure and return outlets on the pump that are on ether side of the temperature sending unit. Should I block them off, by putting a cap on each side, or put a hose from one JIC to the other?
shorts 182 #2 Posted August 4, 2011 first to the best of my knowledge the d series tractors/ transmissions are the same as the series tractors with the exception that the d pump is remote mounted instead of being directly on the transaxle. on the c series tractors when u install auxillary hydraulics by tapping into the hydrostatic trans their is some sort of minor modification that needs to be made in the pump where the lines are installed, you need to do a search on hyd lift install or wait for someone more knowledgable to step up, the partial answer is to remove and plug the ports but the internal adjustment needs to be made also. vg2724 0 #3 Posted August 4, 2011 I have the Sundstrand Auto trans repair manual, and from one of the pictures it looks like the ports can be closed off, but to your point, I'm not sure if I have to make any modifications. My thinking, and I could be wrong, is if the spool is a closed center, the ports on the pump can be plugged.
