Can I Convert From Running Boards To Pedals?

Recommended Posts

71_Bronco

So my brain was ticking away tonight.

Is there any way to convert a running-board style tractor to pedals?

I am talking about cutting out the potion I hatched in the pic below, and then using the newly exposed "rods" to attach pedals to the frame like the older tractors.

Here is a pic of the pedals I am talking about.

This one started out as a 1968 Charger 9.......

I also wanted the narrower rear fender (1965 to 1967) so I had to cut the ends off of the rear footrest support/seat latch bar, otherwise it's as simple as leaving both footrest boards off and installing the stirrup style footrests.

:woohoo:

That thing is awesome!!!

So short answer is "yes", and judging by your response, the pedal style foot-rests should be a direct bolt-on.

I was thinking about cutting the "floor" portion out of the regular running board, so that I would still have the rear tire protection that the running board offers, although I do see that leaving it off won't hurt though.

I wouldn't cut the running boards, just remove them.

I've been mulling it over, and I am going to go with the stock running boards.

I do like the "pedal" style foot rests, but I don't think they would look right with the rest of the tractor. That and I like the added security that if my foot slips, it isn't going straight down into the mower deck belt.

You're telling us that your mower deck doesn't have the proper belt guard?!?!?!? :woohoo:

FWIW, I do have the proper guard, but I'm not sure if I am going to run the deck with it or not.

If anyone should worry about a foot slipping off a stirrup and into a mower, I guess I should :woohoo: :
