Toejam 1 #1 Posted July 20, 2011 I took it from my parts tractor (1055). I will be using it on the 633. I took a few pictures so you can see the gears I need. I know the trans pictures show it dirty but please be assured it will be cleaned before I put it back together. I do not know the model of the trans just that it is a 3 speed with reverse (4 speed). Maybe someone can let me know the model. Before anyone asks the 1055 did not have a serial number. High and Second Low and Reverse Reverse Idler If I did not lable them correctly please correct me. Used gears are what I am looking for. To keep cost down. Pat-

racinfool40 202 #3 Posted July 20, 2011 Pat I can help you out with the reverse Idler. But a no go on the other 2 3523-Hi-Intermediate gear 3524-Low-Reverse gear By My research you can still get the 3524 gear thru toro $46.14.. but the 3523 is not available ???? These2 gears seem to be shot or about shot in all the 4 speed tranny's I have tore down.. May I ask what happened to the 633 tranny?? If you still have it you may be able to use the parts from both tranny's to make one good one..The gears by my research are the same in both tranny's..If you want the reverse Idler let me know.. I agree with Duff Love the Avatar!!! :D
stevasaurus 22,865 #4 Posted July 20, 2011 If the tractor is a 1055...it is a 1965 and the transmission should be a #5049. I think your reverse idler looks OK...it is supposed to be beveled on the top. The other gear that looks bad is the 2nd & hi gear...you do not show a 1st & reverse gear...which is the gear above that on the fork shaft. When you take it apart...look on the back side of the 2nd & 3rd gear also...it engages the input shaft gear and may also be worn. Like Mike said that gear is interchangeable with your other trans...worth tearing apart to see what shape the gear is in. By the way...that trans looks fairly clean. Let us know. I take it back...looks like you did show the other gear on the right shift fork...looks bad also...same gear as in your other trans also...split that and see how they are. by the way...your reverse idler shaft is in the top part of your trans. Pull that out of there and when you put it back together...place it in the shallow half and put the idler on it. Any questions, get a hold of Mike or myself in this post...there are some other members on here that may have your parts. Sorkiwi (Mike)...Kelly and a couple of others may have what you need...and are in your neck of the woods. :ROTF:
Toejam 1 #5 Posted July 21, 2011 Thanks for the comments guys. The 633 trans has many of the same issues that this trany had plus the the ball on the shifter is worn out and one of the shifter forks is worn out. The 633 was a one owner and that whole family used the tar out of it. My goal was to fix this trany and install it so that the 633 is not sitting idle for weeks. So I am looking for part#'s 3524,3525 for a #5049 transmision. I will post in the wanted section. Yes the Avatar is funny glad you all like it...It took me a while to find one that I could relate to.
