Super cheap hydro foot controls

Since the diesel is mounted and running on the 'ol 520, loader project still going, but waiting on a buddy to get the materials, since Im getting them for free. Need to pay $37 for a 4x8' sheet of 1/8" plate, then figure the hydraulic stuff. So, after reading about others who had a loader, and talking about moving the motion control or having three hands to steer, use the loader and go back n forth, figure try and make my own.

Buddy gave me a bushing for something, had 3/4" brash bushings pressed into a steel sleeve. He gave me 2 or 3, threw them in a bucket and forgot about 'em. Got bored, started looking into how to convert to a foot control. Lightbulb went off in my head, remembered those sleeves. Took the footboard off, with some cleaning of the peg and some sanding of the bushing, it slides right on the peg for the footboard. Got a 3/4" collar to keep it from sliding too much, and put a grease fitting in too.

I had a 4' length of 1/4"x 2" kicking around, cut a piece at an angle and welded it on for a foot pedal, another small one for reverse. I welded another piece for the linkage from the tranny linkage. Got a piece of threaded rod, and since nobody had any heim or small tie rod ends, I cut the stockers off, drilled and tapped so the rod would thread into it.

I need to get some springs so it will return once you take your foot off. Might need to lower the linkage on the pedal so it has more throw. Right now total motion length from all the way forward to all the way back is probly only inch and a half. But it's pretty easy to use, might make the forward pedal longer, but wait till I get the springs on.

Also mounted up the AGs and weights,

and filled them just about all the way with antifreeze and water. I got the adapter kit from Tractor supply to use a garden hose to fill tires with water, works AWESOME!!!!

I don't think this site likes webshots, can never seem to get them to show up!!!! So here is some links.

At your page on webshots, you will see the box "link to this picture" Go down to "Post in a Forum" and right click to copy the link. When you are back here, right click in the message box and paste the link you just copied. Now you can post clickless links to your pics and they will appear in your post. Here's the first one. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. You can practice by using the "preview post" button before you click "reply" so they are shown in your post like you intend.

I was looking at this webshots deal....before you copy the URL you have to change the size from 100 to 600. There is a series on sizes under the "link to this picture" text.....makes it much bigger!!!

Very cool. I will be very interested to see how you use the springs to return to neutral. Great idea and work.
