step 1. clean garage to make room.

2. buy a new sectional, make room in the house by moving the old one to the garage where space was just made.

3. give away old sectional and repeat step 1.

4. figure out why the tractor will not start.

5. empty the water out of the gas tank., or at least enough so it will stay running after it has gas dumped in the carb.

6. take off center cap and nut for steering wheel.

7. find wheel puller. figure out the puller is too small and look for the bigger one.

8. get aggravated because the puller will not stay in place and the "feet" are not long enough to fit right.

9. try for 10 min before deciding to just cut the steering wheel off with a hack saw.

9a. remember to buy a new steering wheel

10. remove the dash and any wire still holding it on.

11. try to remove the steering control arm from the steering box.

12. give up and remove the other end of the steering control arm.

13. remove the rusted bolts that are holding on the lower mounting bracket while having the loader sub frame in the way, too short with the short extension and too long with the long one.

13a. hear children screaming inside and go to investigate. realize you can do nothing for the child with a bloody nose while your hands and arms are covered in black dirt/oil yuck.

13b. send someone to check on the baby because your wife brought you out the baby monitor 10 min ago when she left for the store.

13c. go back in because someone turned on the noise maker in the babies room and you no longer want to listen to it over the monitor. walk in to find the baby eating battleship pegs. correct inside problems with the children before returning to finish off step 13.

14. try to remove the upper support bracket but the nut is rounded off.

15. use the sledge to drive on a metric socket. round off more of the nut.

16. reuse the sledge to drive on the next size smaller socket. stop hitting it when it starts bending the bracket.

17. now with the steering column loose try to get it out.

18. realize that you can take more of the brackets off to make it easier to get out.

19. try but are unable to remove stuck bolts and go back to taking the whole thing out.

20. remove steering column and toss on the floor in victory.

21. give up for the day. :woohoo:

got a little bit done today between taking five trips to basket ball camp and it being one of the hottest days this summer.

got some parts from lowes and made a bracket thanks to mr. angle grinder and some drilling so the holes line up. it is not a bad set up but being able to weld would have been helpful.

soon off the the store to pick up some lines and reassemble, but first must deal with the ribs for dinner.

now that i look at the photos i see a problem. the original steering shaft center was about 1 1/4" from the side bracket. the new p/s shaft is about 2" from the bracket. i will see what happens when i go t reassemble and see how forgiving the rubber grommet is in the dash. :ROTF:

:D oops also looks like it will be to short. wish i had measured that. :woohoo:
