Recommended Posts

:D I have an old kohler K301 that has been rebuilt. The engine block has no paint on it, just A thin coat of surface rust. I want to put this engine on another tractor But I would like to remove the rust and paint the block first. whats the best way to remove the rust and what kind of paint should I use? Will I have to use hot surface paint? Any help appreciated !!!! :woohoo:

I use the same paint on my engines as I do on the rest of the tractor. You might expierience som slight discoloration near the exhaust port. but it shouldnt be too bad.

I use duplicolor engine enamel I believe the Ford Red is a real close match. The paint is good up to like 500

I use primer on all the tins and one engine block that I have done I primed and the other block wasn't. The one with primer is holding up better, but that's just my opinion. I used valspar ih red (tsc) and red oxide primer made by valspar
