NAPA

I've read a lot about people buying transmission seals at NAPA Auto Parts stores. Well I tried that last week and got nowhere. I went there armed with Toro part numbers that TT was kind enough to lead me to when I couldn't get on the Toro site. Partstree has the Toro numbers. I gave them the numbers at the Napa store and they said they couldn't cross match them to the right part. I gave then these numbers: 100863 axles seals and 100441 for the input and brake shaft seals. Are these the numbers you guys use? These are for a B80. Thanks,

Jim

Jim:

I use the Chicago Rawhide (Now SKF) seal site link under the

Wheel Horse Tractors

Wheel Horse Link and Click on Chicago Rawhide.

Place your Wheel Horse seal number and the SKF number which is the number to take to NAPA will pop up if the seal is still made .

SKF still has the old Wheel Horse and Toro numbers from what I can tell.

Mfg No.

Mfg Name

SKF Part No.

100441

WHEELHORSE

7410

I have placed your numbers in the Chicago Rawhide seal cross reference and this is what comes up. I used the 9815 on my B-80 last year when I changed both real axle oil seals.

The other option is to measure the seal, ID,OD, thickness and then have them look it up by size in the master catalog

I took the seals with me and the kid behind the counter had no clue. He looked in 3 different books.

Bob, it's a 74.

See what happens when you have a power outage. As soon as the electric comes back on, a dozen other guys have already helped. :woohoo:

NAPA used to do a cross-reference of their own before they changed the web site. I could go to "interchange" and type in a Toro or Kohler number and get a NAPA number displayed if they had it. :D

That might be my problem Bob, I actually went to the store and asked them to do it. :woohoo:

Napa's are without a doubt weird. My favorite Napa I can go to and hopefully I get Tom or if not he gets tired of watching a kid look it up and he just spits out the part numbers for him. :D I leave there with what I need 95% of the time.. The other 2 local stores aren't worth going to if you need to look up any parts. :woohoo:

I worked at a Napa for 10 yrs. Myself and the Manager could spit out part #'s, phone #'s, account #'s all day. Then the store grew to cover another area with no additional help. Then add accounts who wouldn't pay their bills on time and staff was cut even more. I left 7 years ago. When I pay my bill there, I still have to show them how to enter it into the computer so I can get my 2 % discount for paying on time! :woohoo: :D

Steve,

In spite of what your signature says, I don't believe you're stupid at all. You are a bit twisted, though. I can just see you walking into your local NAPA with a couple of those things. :woohoo:

How long did it take you to find that photo online?
