dmoore 826 #1 Posted July 2, 2011 I want to pull my small utiility trailer with a 1 7/8 coupler...does anyone make a hitch that will install on the tractor to do this? Thanks! D
rmaynard 15,525 #2 Posted July 2, 2011 Does the ball need to be raised higher than the hitch that is already there? My B-100 had the hole drilled out to accommodate a regular 1-7/8" ball.

dmoore 826 #5 Posted July 3, 2011 SQUONK, That is what I need! Looks like it raises the ball up to the correct tounge level....I am guessing that hitch will fit most all uni-drive's? D

WildHorses 382 #9 Posted July 3, 2011 My dad has an old 2" hitch ball that fits the hole in the standard hitch but he's had it for years and I have no idea where he got it or if they still make it. I'm looking for one myself btw

Paul D. 26 #12 Posted March 17, 2012 I know most farm stores carry a 1 7/8 hitch that will fit in the standard Hole in the hitch. The family farm and home near me has them for $6.99. I can't say I have ever seen them for a 2" ball though it wouldn't be difficult to make a couple mods to get you there. If you didn't want to drill out the hole in the hitch you could make an adaptor
tunahead72 2,424 #13 Posted March 18, 2012 This may look like a semi-hijack, but it seems like a good place to ask... I may be looking at this wrong, and I need to check my measurements again carefully, so somebody please feel free to correct me. On my 310-8, and probably my C-105, the existing hole in the drawbar is just a bit over 1/2" diameter. The smallest shank diameter I've seen anywhere for a 1-7/8" ball is 5/8". I've seen references here to 1/2" diameter shanks for that size ball, but I've never actually seen one for sale anywhere -- maybe they truly just don't make them that size any more? I really don't want to drill my drawbar, but I will if it's absolutely necessary. I'm trying to keep this as simple and inexpensive as possible, and I don't think I have to raise the ball at all in my particular case. I confess, the only place I haven't looked extensively is eBay, it's on my to-do list. Does anybody know where to buy a 1-7/8" ball with a 1/2" shank diameter? Thanks! smoreau 658 #14 Posted March 18, 2012 Look in the tractor section at TLC for a ball with a 1/2" bolt in it instead of a shank. That's what I used before building my 2" heavy duty hitch that I sell.
tunahead72 2,424 #15 Posted March 18, 2012 Scott, Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm feeling really dense right now. I've looked everywhere I can think of at TSC (I assume that's what you meant, not TLC), and I can't find the ball you're talking about. You want to sell me your old one? Or is it somehow possible to couple/reduce a 5/8" shank to a 1/2" bolt? Going to bed now, brain hurt.
Paul D. 26 #16 Posted March 18, 2012 The easiest way to make an extention would be to take a piece of 1/2 thick flat stock about 3" long and drill a 17/32 hole in one end of it and a 21/32 on the other end. Use a bolt and nut to bolt it to your hitch like a short extension sticking out the back and the take the 5/8 shaft ball and bolt and nut it into the 21/32 hole
Kelly 1,029 #17 Posted March 18, 2012 I use the ball from TSC it is a 5/8 shank, I just drill out the hitch, or use a die grinder to open the hole up, I also put the ball on tighten the nut by hand mark a spot right below the nut on the shank with a paint marker, remove the ball and drill a hole at the mark so I can put a cotter clip/hair pin clip in the hole, that way I can put the ball on with out tools and the nut can not back off with the clip there, 99% of the stuff I tow does not need the nut tightened up any more than by hand. can whlvr 993 #19 Posted March 19, 2012 you can get an insert for the ball,i think ive seen 3/4 down to 1/2,
kpinnc 12,147 #20 Posted March 20, 2012 If you add the ball on the drawbar hitch, a little reinforcement under the tranny is not a bad idea either. I've seen trannies with the bottom broken out because a heavy load was accidentally dropped onto the hitch. Just tacking a small "plate" out of 1/8 cold rolled is a big help:
