i picked this up at the show this year (my first show).

it's a 1977 c-160. needs front wheel bearings but everything else looks to be in decent shape so far lol.

i plan on using this as my snow/dirt plow tractor.

thanks again bruce. i think that was your name sorry if i got it wrong.

Congrats on your C-160-8 you're gonna love it! I have a 1974 C-160-8 with a 42inch blade for snow removal. It does the job for me and yours will take care of you. The "C" series are hard to beat.

520HC

Not to rain on your parade, but it does not have the correct engine. That is a small pan mounted on a cradle. WH didn't do that untill 1978,C-121-141-161. Doesn't really matter, just pointing it out. :hide:

520hc what is the difference? is it just the oil pan and cradle mounting?.

well it got a good workout yesterday.

hauled logs and branches all day and did some dirt plowing.

i still need to swap the wheel weights over from the c-81.

the maiden voyage was a success :hide: .

Man, you don't waste any time, do you?

The engine does look a bit newer than the rest of the machine, but is it possible it's the original engine, just with a different oil pan and mounted on a cradle? You could check the spec. and serial numbers on the ID plate, but 520HC is probably correct, it doesn't much matter as long as it's working well for you!

Have fun!

somebody else just took the engine off a c161 and mounted it on a c160 . its easy to do either . i have a c101 with a solid mount engine , as i dont like the cradle mount engines . seems to rob power from the pto disc . does a lot of slipping . i just did a swap had a older c100 in the dack yard and took all the parts from it . as the rest of the tractor was junk :hide: :WRS:

TT

Oil pans don't interchange between the two :hide: K-341 models.

Here's my question.........

How/where is the front of the drive belt guard attached at the engine?

TT,

I saw the tractor at the show. It has an original belt guard from a C-160 attached behind the PTO bracket just like the C-160. I mentioned to fourwheels0 that he should separate the two or it will eventually separate itself.

TT yes i need to remove the bolt on the belt guard (that's attached to the motor) and mount the belt guard separately as rmaynard suggested.

it smokes a little under heavy a load but seems to run well with no noises.

even under a load of tree's i was dragging yesterday it pulled with no problem.

i had to adjust the clutch pedal, put in new cotter pins but it seems solid so far.

i think it will work good for awhile (i hope :hide: ).
