Thursday at the Show

Horse'n Around

Howdy,

Well I got to the show at 9am and I was there till about 5:30 Thursday and I returned home for health reasons with the idea that I would go back today (Friday). Well it wasn't to be, I left home this morning for the show at about 8 and I got a few miles from home to the exit for Pine Grove on 81 and the cooling fan clutch on my truck let go :hide: so I called AAA and had it brought back home. The good part is that I heard it fail clearly (I'm lucky I had my CD player volume down) so I was able to get it pulled over and shut it off within seconds of it letting go and my radiator did not suffer any damage, the fan shroud got some very minor scuffs on it but other than that mechanically I got off easy. I just need a fan and fan clutch which I ordered today......the bad part is that I didn't get to back today and hang out with everyone like I wanted so badly to. So many folks from here were going to be showing up today and I missed out on getting to meet some more of my Red Square friends in person :hide: I'm glad that I was able to meet up with Ray and his wife(Suburban550 , Mikes RJ and his Golden retriever (what a sweet dog), Buckrancher and his wife and Steveasaurus and Jordan (Jdog)and a lot more folks too but my feeble memory can only process just so much in a short time :WRS:

I have NEVER seen so many Wheel Horses in one place, or any place for that matter  I didn't bring anything to drive so I was on foot but luckily everything is all in close proximity so I was able to just stroll around and look with wide eyed amazement at all the beautiful Horses. I got a real kick out of watching all the kids having the time of their lives driving the tractors for hours on end. I saw an old Horse, I believe it was made in 1949, anyway it was not made with a steering wheel,it was steered by a single lever what a neat tractor ! What a beautiful facility too!!! There were folks selling parts everywhere for really reasonable prices (especially compared to Ebay). I got a lot of great parts for the 702 that my Dad left me. I got a pretty nice hood, a complete 702 tower with a clean one piece gas tank, original amp meter and original cables (which still work) a real nice unbroken steering wheel with center cap and a S/G type voltage regulator,a really nice starter generator belt cover, a fuel petcock for my Raider from Jordan and I also bought some fuel pump diaphragms from Brian.it was a great day, I just with I could have gone back today to meet more of my WH friends from here in person and also see more Horses. What a beautiful sight... a sea or red as far as the eyes could see :disgust:

As for my truck, thankfully its an easy fix and I was hoping to be able to grab the fan and fan clutch today and go to the show tomorrow morning but the fan is a dealer item and it wont be in until Monday morning :)

Thank you to everyone I got to meet, You made me feel super welcome . Ray,you were right (kicking myself in the butt) .... I should have just brought my tent and camped with y'all and everything would have been alright! :)

John
