Jeremy, I would take off the belt guard first and make sure the belt is on OK...tension pulley, etc. On the bright side, if you need another transmission or if we have to tear it apart and fix it, I have a spare trans and or parts. You should have a #5085 4 speed transmission. Check the externals first ..gear shifter, belt path, etc. Let us know. :hide: These pictures and video is actually of your #5085 transmission.

There really is no clutch, like you would think. When you push in on the pedal, you just put slack in the belt and the belt guard keeps the slack in the right place so the trans stops spinning. You are just releasing the tension pulley so there is slack in the belt. Most of the adjustments in the linkage are just for where you would be comfortable with the pedal height. While it is possible it is internal, from what you said, it sounds external. Check the belt guard to see if the guides are broke off...you should see the broken welds. Do the external inspections first...pictures would help...as would as much information as you can. :hide:

well, i got the day off so i planned on getting out there and checking stuff out and getting some pictures but unfortunately it has decided to rain all day in my part of Indiana. My wheel horse is in my shed but there just isn't enough room to work in there so i do my work outside and I don't work well in the rain, hahaha . so I'll get some pics asap thanks for your help with explaining the "clutch" makes understanding the whole thing a lot easier. and your video on the transmission rebuild was amazing. Before watching that i wouldn't have even thought about cracking open the transmission, now i feel much more confident on getting in there if that's whats needed. Very helpful for a newbie like me
