mr.pipes 4 #4 Posted June 12, 2011 Congrats on your purchase! It looks to be in nice shape. The 60" deck should help cut down your mowing time too. What year is it?
CRE1992 135 #5 Posted June 13, 2011 The 520H is a 1995, I was also planning to buy wheel weights for it but I had to drive 30 minutes away from where I picked up the 520H and as I pulled in the driveway the guy told me they were just sold and to have a nice trip? So so much for that, but I am picking up a plow for it next weekend.
Kelly 1,029 #6 Posted June 13, 2011 Be sure the plow has the extra bracket set up to fit the 520 with the forward swept axle, the extra brackets run more than snow blades.
CRE1992 135 #7 Posted June 13, 2011 would you happen to have a picture of what the brackets look like? The guy is sending me pictures tomorrow. So I shall see. Thanks again for the help, also the one pulley on the middle spindle, rocks back and forth, like it's loose, but the spindle is fine just the Polly, I have not had a chance to pull it off yet

Duff 206 #10 Posted June 14, 2011 Man, that machine looks like NOS! Great find! Duff :WRS:
CRE1992 135 #11 Posted June 14, 2011 Thanks Duff, and everyone else! I plan on doing a full tune up next week along with a good cleaning when I get some money in, I am planning on picking up a plow and wheel weights this weekend for cheap, so hopefully it all works out! Btw I was looking over it today, and you can see in the picture with the battery corrosion on top that at one time it had electrical problems with the fuse panel as there is another one tucked next to it... And after looking at the deck because of the pulley problem, I noticed that a lot of the bolts were replaced, and then I saw that it was repainted at one time! However there is no rust anywhere on it! I actually found a trac vac, with the mower deck attachment that fits the 60 inch deck for cheap! So I may pick up that also! Thanks, Charles p.s. its starting to seem like I caught the bug.... :hide:
Duff 206 #12 Posted June 14, 2011 p.s. its starting to seem like a caught the bug.... Oh yeah...and it only gets worse from here on out! Duff :WRS:
DrabHorse 2 #13 Posted June 14, 2011 Looks Good! The belt on the deck for the blade spindles goes in the upper groove on the center pulley, and then belt from the engine goes on the lower groove. Also remove the clip or pin on the rear adjustment bar and then that will allow you to lift up the front part of the deck mount to give you room to take belts on or off of the center pulley. Kelly 1,029 #14 Posted June 14, 2011 Just in case the snow blade is not set up for the 520, we have a ext. kit for sale right here, that will make most standard plows fit a 520. Click on link, http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=29029
CRE1992 135 #15 Posted June 14, 2011 DrabHorse and everyone else thinking about the deck! go to the attachments thread area and you will see my dilemma! PLEASE HELP!!
mrc 829 #16 Posted June 15, 2011 hi charles, nice 520H! i actually spoke to the PO as i was thinking of buying the tractor. the engine was surging a bit. the cure for that is simple. i know because i've owned 2 520h's. remove the top of the carb (unclip 1 piece of throttle linkage and 4 screws if i remember right) and spray with carb cleaner. blow out with compressed air. repeat if necessary. the onan gets this way with infrequent use and after sitting all winter. i used seafoam as well in the gas tank. also onans last thousands of hours in generators and welders but sometimes have problems in our 520H's. this IMO is caused by the wh belt guard. with the engine running wide open get down on your hands and knees so your face is just behind the pto facing the belt guard. not much breeze huh? now crawl forward of the pto and the rush of air is tremendous!!! i believe the belt guard traps the rear cylinder heat and thus creates problems. think valve seats falling out. i think wh engineers missed this one. you might want to think about modifying that belt guard. good luck with tractor and its nice to see a young man helping his family. best regards. mike in mass. CRE1992 135 #20 Posted June 16, 2011 charles, where is the 523xi diesel? mike in mass. The 523DXI is in West Virginia not far from DC, I was going to buy it, except $1000 dollars more is a lot, especially in my situation. It looks to be a nice machine, I wish I had the money to buy it to be honest.
CRE1992 135 #21 Posted June 16, 2011 sharp looking machine that will last a long time Thanks rexman72, Hopefully it will!, I just tuned it up today minus the hydro filter and oil. That should be for next week...

Hmm, now if this is true (I think it very well may be, as you main a great point) how come only the onans are affected and not the briggs or Kohler twins? Ridavidk 3 #25 Posted December 23, 2011 Kelly I just bought a plow for my 520H, 1996 and don't know if I need the extension kit or not. It fits on the tractor, but when the blade is angled, it is about 1" away from the front tire. The model is # 0648 BC03. Should the blade be further forward? You referenced a kit that you might sell for it. How much is it? Thanks. David
