zakkxx 0 #1 Posted June 12, 2011 Is there a step by step way to adjust the motion lever linkage/cam on a 1995 520H? My problem is that it doesnt hold speed and you literally have to hold the lever forward..(or back) to maintain a constant speed. A real PITA. All the linkages between your legs seem to be in good shape. If I clean/tighten/lube the tension bolt under the seat, it will hold speed better, but then the dash lever is almost impossible to move. There has to be an order in which to adjust all of it. Any suggestions? The tractor also wants to creep forward when the lever is in the neutral position. Is that related to the original problem? farmer 1,075 #2 Posted June 13, 2011 Zakkxx, First I hope you enjoy the forum. If your tractor is creeping with the control in neutral I think you should start there. Jack up the rear and put axle stands in place so the rear wheels just clear ground. Chock the front wheels. Under the seat is the cam plate, as you move the motion lever the cam moves, disconnect the linkage between the two. Start the tractor and adjust the cam plate by hand until the wheels are stationary, switch off the tractor. Put the motion control lever in its neutral position, now adjust the linkage so that it can be reconnected..without moving either the cam plate or the motion control lever in the process! You should now have neutral in the right place! Holding a constant speed in use depends on the tightness of the bolt in the slot in the cam plate, I've found that a fibre washer under the steel washer helps a lot.(no need for it to be as tight) Hope this all makes sense...and helps you out. :hide:
smoreau 658 #3 Posted June 13, 2011 I agree with Farmer on this one. and You can get that fiber washer at your local hardware store. Good luck on getting that 520 working good again!! :hide:
Jim_M 178 #4 Posted June 13, 2011 Don't use any lube on the tension bolt and washer. If you've already lubed it, clean it up with some brake or carburetor cleaner.
zakkxx 0 #6 Posted June 18, 2011 Thanks guys. The fiber washer sounds like a good idea.
