My trans axel is in low range and bolt is loose inside that holds the fork that

shifts from low to high. I have the unit out of the tractor but cannot split it

apart. Any suggestions? When would I find a service manual

Thanks Ed Bauer

I have the unit out of the tractor but cannot split it apart.

Care to elaborate?

Lack of tools? Afraid of pieces flying everywhere? Can't get the rear hubs off? :hide:

Manuals can be found here:

or at the Toro website

As TT said a little more info or a pic would help..did you remove the brake drum or the pin that holds your rear hitch on??? Let us know and we will get you pointed in the right direction. :hide:

I do have the unit in half: The brake drum did have to come of, Thanks.

I am looking at the gear cluster for the shift, the high low range is below

it. What happened is the bolt that holds the fork for the High Low range

came out and the fork is bent, I will have to order if available; how does

the gear assembly come out from the case, I do not want to break it.

The rods seem to have a ball or spring holding them in.

Thanks Ed Bauer

Ed...1st. :WRS:

go into the Wheel Horse Tractor's section...pinned at the top is a section called Very Useful Post...scroll down to the transmissions. You will find all the information you need, with videos and pictures of how your trans works and is put together. The videos are of a 4 speed and is the same as yours, except for the high/low. Here is one of the threads:

http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=19680

Your tractor is a 1968 with a #5060 transmission if original. Here is a copy of the big manual for WH transmissions. Yours is in section III.

As TT stated, download your tractor manual from MyWheelHorse.com for part numbers. Let us know how it goes or if you need anything else. :hide:
