520h hydro leak

Recommended Posts

cheesegrader

I have an annoying slow leak at the connection with the lift cylinder.

I'm going to change the fluid and filter this weekend, and will take apart the joint.

Does anyone know if the O-rings are 9/16 ID? I have some spares, but nothing smaller than 1/2. I'm also wondering if teflon tape on the threads is OK.

Thanks

If the fitting uses an O-ring captured in a taper you should use a "hard" 90 durometer O-ring, available at Zatkoff.com my favorite supplier of specialty seals and packings. In my opinion teflon tape is from the stone age, it is difficult to install correctly and incorrectly installed the fibers or strands can cause problems in the hydraulic system. try either hydraulic loc n seal, a locktite type product or paste or liquid teflon on tapered pipe threads :hide:

Thank you, Shorts.

I had no idea that O-rings came in different hardnesses.

I learn something here every day.

most generic o-rings are 60 durometer, and made of buna n material. if they are made of something else they are usually colored, tan, violet,,green, yellow, etc
