Toejam 1 #1 Posted May 29, 2011 A freind called and asked if I still wanted to fix up my old k141 that I have sitting on the bench. Naturaly I said yes! So it was off to Pauls shop... I can take these motors upart and put them back together but the technical stuff I leave to Paul. So this is all about honing the cylinder and reseating the valves. Keep in mind I found this engine in the bottom of an old motor pile and saved it for my 633. It had no head no piston/rod or carb. and had been outside in an open building for about ten years or so. It will be a major accomplishment for me to get this thing up and running. So I am going to shair it with all of you. I didn't get a picture of him honing the cylinder but it is already done. First Paul took out the valves After removing the studds he cleaned the head surface Crap I just realised I didn't get a picture of him grinding and clearancing the valves on the machine. Oh well .... sorry Here he is with that realy cool tool to grind the seats. Reinstalling the spings and keepers. I will post more when the rest of the parts come in. Piston and crank install should go smooth but I am waiting on a gasket kit.

Toejam 1 #3 Posted May 29, 2011 This is the up draft carb I am using. Should cure all of my hood clearance issues.
TT-(Moderator) 1,146 #4 Posted May 29, 2011 This is the up draft carb I am using. Should cure all of my hood clearance issues. Well....... The air filter housing actually touches the grille on my 633. A Carter "N" carb with the thin air cleaner (like used on 701/702/753/704 models) will clear the hood too - in case you run into problems with the Tillotson. Toejam 1 #6 Posted June 4, 2011 This is the up draft carb I am using. Should cure all of my hood clearance issues. Well....... The air filter housing actually touches the grille on my 633. A Carter "N" carb with the thin air cleaner (like used on 701/702/753/704 models) will clear the hood too - in case you run into problems with the Tillotson. I am using a newer style techy filter. I know its not O.E. but it will work good and best of all it didn't cost anything.

Toejam 1 #9 Posted June 26, 2011 A little progress.... The old engine on the frame. I may be rebuilding this one also.Removed old engine and started cleaningRefreshed motor all put together! Cleaned and painted tins and the recoil TT sold me (thanks again Terry!) The motor is all together and on the 633. I am having trouble keeping it running. As soon as I work out all the bugs I will post some more pics. It was real nice to start it up and not have a cloud of blue smoke come out of it.
Toejam 1 #11 Posted June 27, 2011 Well she is all done..... Timing was off and the carb was out of adjustment. Before After I guess now I need to pull the rest of it apart and put a coat of paint on it. This is a worker so I will not be restoreing it for a while. I am in need of a good gas tank. This one is in bad shape and can not be repaired. I am interested if anyone has one for sale.
TT-(Moderator) 1,146 #12 Posted June 27, 2011 I suspect the governor doesn't work very well, does it? When the Tillotson updraft is used on a K, the governor arm should be bent 90 degrees: (I can get better pictures from my 633 if you need them.) This is just me being picky, but the top of the fuel pump can be turned 180 degrees so the orientation of the inlet & outlet matches the carb & tractor. (the line from the tank originally ran around the right side of the engine) Nice recoil! :woohoo:
Toejam 1 #13 Posted June 28, 2011 Ultamitly I want to use a Carter N. I will take your advise into considerasion. Thankyou! I am having a bit of trouble with the throttle hanging wide open. I will turn the top of the pump. That will make it a whole lot cleaner looking! Thankyou for pointing that out!
Zeek 2,286 #14 Posted July 14, 2011 The Gasket kit is here...Yah! Now just waiting on the rod, piston and crank. Can you tell me where you got this gasket kit?
Coadster32 793 #15 Posted July 14, 2011 Nice job. Thanks for the thread on this. I wonder if the PO went in deep water, as to why the air filter was the way it was. (Perhaps a snorkle for that thing.) :woohoo:
