:D That is super cool! What a sweet machine. I can't wait to see it working. With all the tallent I've seen on this site I think someone needs to start a new tractor company. This could be the mini D model. :banghead::thumbs2: Backhoe on the rear? Oh yeah. I'd like to have one. :banghead:

Been watching this build thinking that is quite a project. But then it hit me you steer by braking but you are using a transmission with a differential, that will

cause the opposite side to speed up. At slow speeds I dont see a problem but

in higher gears you may be in for a ride. :banghead: Dozers normally use a clutch

and brake on each side thus no speed up when turning. Just my thought, nothing

against your project. :thumbs2: Mike

It's really no different than a "normal" tractor with independent brakes - other than the obvious lack of a front axle / steering tires.

Steering clutches would only be needed if the machine was equipped with a solid axle or locked differential.

Thanks again for the compliments guys, it really means a lot.

COMMANDO6, this was originally a Raider 9 parts tractor with no engine which I bought for an Electro 12 restore. Looks like that's gonna have to wait.

ol550, I'm not sure what to expect yet on the steering or speed, but I'm sure I'll be grinnin'.

Duke, I'll try for the video.

I've held off from updating for a while as I sent a bunch of parts out for plating at the end of August and the two week lead time turned into three and now it's probably going to be six weeks, so that pretty well messed up the order in which I wanted to work on this. I wanted to do wiring last, but as the painting is done and the levers, fasteners, rods, etc are not back yet, I got it wired. So it starts well, charges, the winch for the plow works, and I put in a switch and relay to operate the lights when the housings come back.

So here's a couple pics:

I checked with the plater and it's going to be about another week until they can get to my parts. Here are some pics of other items which needed to be addressed.

Here I bumped out the air cleaner with a piece of 1 1/2" conduit and some flanges.

001-11.jpg

I also made some flanges for the exhaust (just 1/4" plate) and stainless pipe.

005-9.jpg

I'm working on a indicator so I know where the plow is level with the machine, still needs paint and numbers

003-10.jpg

And here is what it should look like if I ever get the hood done.
